What a remarkable evening at the Rotary Club of Smithfield!

Our meeting was filled with celebration, recognition, and a shared commitment to Service Above Self.

We were honored to induct Jim Denoncourt of Scout Troop 3 as an honorary member of our club and welcome him into the Rotary family.

Outgoing Club President Larry Saint reflected on the many ways our club serves the community and the impact we make together through service projects, partnerships, and volunteerism. These accomplishments are only possible because of our dedicated members who continually step forward to meet the needs of our community.

We also proudly installed our 2026–2027 club leadership team. Congratulations to incoming President David Johnson and officers Katey Baggett, Danny Webb, Carson Cox, and Jenny Lijana. We look forward to another year of fellowship, service, and positive impact under their leadership.

The evening also included special recognition for Carson Cox, recipient of the Cliff Dochterman Award, a distinguished honor recognizing Rotarians and Rotaractors who demonstrate exceptional service and commitment to Scouting.

Finally, we celebrated Peyton Barlow, recipient of the 2025 Golden Rotarian Award. This prestigious district award recognizes Rotarians with 25 or more years of dedicated service who have made a lasting difference through their commitment to Rotary, their club, and their community. To commemorate the occasion, Larry Saint presented Peyton with a custom replica model of his tractor and a commemorative plaque honoring his years of service.

Congratulations to all who were recognized. Thank you for helping make our club stronger and for continuing to make a difference in the lives of others through Service Above Self.

Rotarians of Smithfield, this is a reminder to register now for the Quad Cities Dinner at the Suffolk Elk Lodge 685.

Join us for this annual dinner shared with fellow Rotary Clubs of Downtown Suffolk, Northern Suffolk and Franklin for fun and fellowship.

Cost is $65 per person. Guests are encouraged to wear red, white and blue celebration attire for our country’s 250th birthday.

Tonight, the Smithfield Rotary Club had the honor of recognizing one of our fellow Rotarians, Angela Wildasin Standley Johnson, as a recipient of the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award for her generous contributions and continued commitment to service above self.

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition was established in 1957 by Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International. The award honors individuals whose contributions help support Rotary’s humanitarian, educational, and peace-building initiatives around the world through The Rotary Foundation.

For Rotarians, the Paul Harris Fellow pin is more than an award. It represents a dedication to making a meaningful impact both locally and globally. It reflects the spirit of generosity, leadership, and service that continues to shape communities for the better.

Congratulations, Angela, and thank you for all that you do for our club and community!

We celebrated our 2025/26 Season with a volunteer reception! $84,310 in Smithfield VA Wine & Brew Fest donations. $231,321 for the entire season and our total overall donations to $2,300,240. (14) years & (34) festivals! WOW. Can't wait to launch our next season...stay tuned.....Thanks all our volunteers, sponsors & attendees and to Lijana Photography, LLC for taking this amazing group picture! We will post some more pictures from the reception soon!

The new date for our upcoming Mental Health Expo at the Smithfield Center will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. This will be our club's third annual expo for this important cause to bring mental health awareness and resources to our community. All are welcome to this free event!
