🍎✏️ Our WSES teachers are BACK! 💙💛

Yesterday, the WSES PTA Executive Board had the pleasure of welcoming our amazing teachers back for their first full day of the 2026–2027 school year! 🎉

The halls were buzzing, classrooms were being prepped, bulletin boards were going up, and there was so much excitement as everyone got ready to welcome our Eagles back to school! 🦅📚

Of course, a busy day of classroom prep calls for a little fuel! 🍫🥨🥤 Our PTA Snack Cart made its way around the school with treats and drinks to help keep everyone going.

A HUGE thank you to all of our families and community members who donated items from our wishlist. Because of your generosity, we were able to give our teachers a little extra love as they kicked off the new year. ❤️

MEAL APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN • Apply Online Through SchoolCafé

🍎🥪 Families at five IWCS schools: this back-to-school task is especially important!

Parents and guardians of students attending the following schools should complete a 2026–2027 Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application if they believe their household may qualify:

🏫 Carrollton Elementary
🏫 Westside Elementary
🏫 Smithfield Middle
🏫 Smithfield High

Applications may be completed privately and securely online through SchoolCafé. Families should submit a new application for the new school year unless they have received notification that their student has already been approved.

Need help completing an application? Call the IWCS Child Nutrition Department at 757-365-1631. Applying now can help ensure meal benefits are in place when school begins. 💙

🍎🦅 HELP US WELCOME BACK OUR WESTSIDE TEACHERS & STAFF! 🦅🍎

Our teachers and staff are getting ready to head back to school, and the Westside PTA wants to make their first full day back at work a little sweeter! 💙

We’re putting together a Welcome Back Snack Cart filled with drinks, snacks, sweet treats, and other goodies to roll around and surprise our teachers and staff as they prepare for the new school year. 🛒🥨🍫🥤

And we would LOVE some help from our Westside families and community to fill it!

We’ve created an Amazon Wishlist with items for the cart, and we’re inviting parents, caregivers, grandparents, friends, neighbors, and community members to help us stock it.
