Smithfield Music is busy today at the Smithfield Wine and Brew Fest managing the three stages. Starting off the day is Runnin' Shine, Dustin Furlow and The Mt. Summitt Band.
It's a beautiful day at Windsor Castle Park with some great music.

We haven't been able to do much in the way of bringing in "Live" music but we're hoping to get things going more in the future. We did book and manage the three stages at the 2022 Smithfield Wine and Brew Fest held at Windsor Castle Park April 9. It was a sold out event and here are a few snapshots of the performers that day.

Due to covid restrictions we haven't been able to do a thing this past year but we still enjoy good music. Sunday night one of our friends is appearing on Austin City Limits on PBS as well as a repeat next Sat. night Jan 30, should be on 6:00 pm each night on WHRO channel 15 in the Hampton Roads area of VA. Ray Wylie Hubbard came to Smithfield in 2007 and 20011 and put on a couple of great shows. We've talked with him every couple of years about coming back and it has always been a matter of his schedule working with our schedule and we're hoping that can change when the world gets healthy again. Be sure to check him out on TV if you can.

Smithfield Music lost a dear friend on Friday 9/4. Jeanne Groves passed away following surgery but will always be remembered as a big supporter of Smithfield Music. . She came to just about every show and supported so many of the artists at their merch table. Where she stood out was in the food she prepared for our performers. For years, all we had to do was ask her to be in charge of the "Green Room" at our Aiken and Friends Fest and come time for the event, the most beautiful and delicious spread of food would be put out for the artists to enjoy. She'd even put out a vegetarian section. Honestly, we had artists that teasingly said they would only play the festival if Jeanne was in charge of the food. It was that good.
We will miss her laughter, her spirit and her zest for doing something good for the community. RIP Jeanne.

Each year Smithfield Music makes a donation to the music departments of each of the nine public schools in our county. Thanks to the work of a number of volunteers, the people who bought tickets to the shows we brought to town and to a number of generous donors, we were able to present $12,500.00 to be divided among the schools. Last Thursday night, Jim Abicht of Smithfield Music announced to the School Board that the non-profit group will be donating over $12,000 for the music programs in all 9 IWCS schools. Thank you to Smithfield Music and all those who support their mission.

It was a great night of live music at Smithfield Little Theatre when the Mike Aiken Band took the stage on Saturday September 21st. Mike and Amy have long been friends of Smithfield Music and it was so good to have them back in town. They were joined by Jordan Ponzi on bass and Ron Fetner and Bill Gurley played a stage full of guitars, mandolins and a fiddle. Lots of talent in that crowd.
