———-PRESS RELEASE——-
The Woman’s Club of Windsor Has a Record-Breaking Boston Butt Sale
The ladies of the Woman’s Club of Windsor chopped and sauced coleslaw, prepared baked beans and teamed up with the Windsor Ruritans to cook Boston Butts (whole bone in pork shoulders) slowly over charcoal to raise funds for the club’s annual budget. The hard work started months ago when the club members began to sell tickets for the drive-through pick up only event and plan for the chopping and cooking. “All of our members have a hand in making our fundraising events successful. It takes everyone’s help leading up to the big day to sell tickets, do the kitchen work and work the pickup line.” explains Mischelle Goodman, the Fundraising Chair. “Connections to our community - from friends and family, to other civic groups like the Ruritans, to businesses like Farmer’s Bank, Felt’s Packing, Billy Gwaltney and Windsor True Value, that support us financially are all part of a successful event.”
Sandra Edwards, President of the Woman’s Club of Windsor would like to express her appreciation to the Windsor Ruritans, Mischelle Goodman Ways & Means Chair, the businesses in Windsor who supported this event, and the members who worked hand in hand to make this event a remarkable success.
Jake Redd, President of the Windsor Ruritans said it was an honor helping out at the Boston Butt sale this year. There was a great turnout and the Ruritan Club will definitely be joining together with the Woman’s Club for more joint projects to help further our community involvement this year.
The funds from this event and other fundraising activities support the Club’s community efforts including donations to clubs and volunteer organizations. The Woman’s Club supports local arts and culture, veteran’s needs, abused and disadvantaged women and children, food banks, emergency services and many other organizations. The Club also supports many educational efforts including two $1,000 scholarships to local seniors and registration for the American Legion’s Girls State and HOBY Youth Leadership Conference.
The Woman’s Club of Windsor, Inc. is a 501©3 not for profit organization. It is a part of the General Federation of Woman’s Club, an international organization dedicated to community involvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
