Community Christian Concern-Janet's Korner Thrift Store Slidell’s oldest non-profit provides the community with emergency basic needs. We operate a food pantry, thrift store & a men's housing program.

In the early eighties, members of a number of local churches came together to consolidate their efforts to help individuals and families with basic emergency needs. They sought to tackle urgent problems requiring immediate, short term solutions in the form of food, clothing, shelter and emergency travel. In 1983, armed with a small staff and a large number of volunteers, Community Christian Concer

n began its Mission to touch one life at a time by providing compassion, guidance and basic necessities. Today, Community Christian Concern operates five distinct programs: 1) The Food Pantry, 2) Janet's Korner Thrift Store, 3) Housing Program, 4) Community Garden and 5) Client Advocacy. Each year, Community Christian Concern provides assistance to over 3000 individuals-veterens, seniors, the disabled, the working poor, homeless and a growing number of single parent families and grandparents raising grandchildren. For over 40 years, we have worked tirelessly to realize our vision to meeting needs, inspiring self-sufficiency and building a stronger community.
