Catching Up With the Rotary Club of Slidell⚙️

Another great Friday NOON meeting happened among the Rotary Club of Slidell at the Nola Lagniappe Room!

We had the opportunity to hear Ann Meyers speak about the Ochsner 50+ / Golden Opportunities program and the importance of aging well through connection, purpose, and community. One of the strongest takeaways was the reminder that healthy aging is deeply tied to social interaction, friendships, and staying engaged in life.

We also celebrated the induction of several amazing new Rotarians: Melanie Natal Lewis, John Grigg, Donald “Porkchop” Thurman, Irv Magri, and Alton Adams. Welcome to Rotary!

And as if that wasn’t enough, we had the honor of trying out a new family-style BBQ menu coming soon to Nola Southern Grill by Chef Gary Faller — and it did not disappoint!

It’s always a great day to be a Rotarian… especially on Fridays at NOON for lunch at the Nola Lagniappe Room. ❤️

CATCHING UP WITH ROTARY- FRIENDS FOREVER INTERNATIONAL-

What if peace starts with young people simply learning to understand each other?

The world tells young people what divides them.
These students are learning how to build peace instead.

We welcomed inspiring young leaders from Ireland, India, Peru, Austria, Alabama, and New Hampshire through Friends Forever International, an organization celebrating 40 years of building bridges, developing leaders, and promoting peace through cultural connection and understanding.

They shared powerful stories about leadership, courage, culture, and stepping outside their comfort zones to create understanding across differences.

The group also shared their excitement about experiencing Louisiana culture, art, music, architecture, and the hospitality of our community during their visit.

This is more than a student program.
It’s the future of peacebuilding.

This is Rotary's Area of Focus: Peacebuilding.
It's supporting the changemakers.
