Military Road Alliance Delegates to Hear
From Director of Juvenile Detention Facility

M.R.A. president Robert Broome has announced that the Military Road Alliance (M.R.A.), an umbrella organization of a dozen homeowner associations in eastern St. Tammany Parish, will meet Wednesday, April 15, 2026, promptly at 7:00 p.m.
April’s guest speaker will be Joseph T. Dominick, Executive Director of the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center.
Please notice that the Military Road Alliance voted recently to move back to meeting on the third Wednesday of the month, as has been its tradition since 1979.
The public is welcome to attend this informational M.R.A. meeting, which will be held in the cafeteria of Boyet Jr. High, on Rebel Drive, one block off N. Pearl St. Ample parking is available in front of and on the sides of the building.
Dominick will update the M.R.A. on activities and ongoing projects at the Juvenile Detention Center, which serves five parishes -- Livingston, St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington. The Center is located in the northwestern corner of St. Tammany Parish. Dominick welcomes the public to tour the facility.
After his presentation, Dominick will take questions from those in attendance.
As always, M.R.A. meetings are open to the public as a service to help keep area residents informed on issues that can affect the entire community. Anyone can attend M.R.A. meetings; however, only officially designated M.R.A. delegates can vote on issues when brought before the organization.

St. Tammany Parish Government currently has more than $80 million in projects to improve our water and sewer utility infrastructure. This is the largest utility investment in St. Tammany Parish history. These projects were funded by the Water Sector Program and ARPA thanks to our local and state elected officials who brought this much-needed funding home to St. Tammany Parish.

The grant agreement requires that the infrastructure is able to be sustained. The state contracted with a consultant to review the Department of Utilities’ rates to ensure that existing and new infrastructure could be maintained and future capital upgrades could be funded. The consultant’s review is complete, and now the new required rates must be adopted in accordance with the grant agreement. This requirement applies to every community across the state that received Water Sector funding.

Since uniform rates will now be charged system-wide regardless of location, the increase experienced by individual customers will be dependent upon the rates they are currently paying today.

The rate study findings will be presented at the Infrastructure Committee Meeting on Wednesday, October 29 at 3 p.m. in the Council Chambers on Koop Drive. The water and sewer rate increases will be introduced at the Council Meeting on Thursday, November 6 at 6 p.m. Public meetings will be held to educate our customers and answer their questions. Public meeting dates and locations will be announced soon. The adjustment will be on the agenda for adoption at the December 4 Council Meeting. New rates are scheduled to take effect in January 2026.

Over the next few weeks, you’ll see new and enhanced concrete curbing at key intersections, reducing “conflict points” and helping to decrease the number of traffic accidents.

Slidell work areas include:
• Front St. at Brownsvillage Rd.
• Front St. at Gause Blvd.
• Front St. at Brownswitch Rd.
• Gause Blvd. at Pearl Dr.
• Gause Blvd. at Military Rd.
• Gause Blvd. at Tyler Dr.
• Gause Blvd. at US 190 Plaza (near Popeyes)
• Gause Blvd. at Yaupon Dr.

Notice Regarding HOA Autopayments

Several homeowners who paid their annual dues by check later discovered that their HOA website autopay was still active. This caused an automatic draft in addition to their mailed payment. Unfortunately, when this second charge is disputed as fraud, the HOA incurs substantial bank fees.

👉 Action Requested: Please log into the HOA website and check whether you are still enrolled in autopayment.

If you have made a duplicate payment, please contact us directly. We can quickly resolve the issue and issue a refund check for any overpayment.

Thank you for helping us avoid unnecessary fees and keeping HOA funds focused on community improvements.

Lottery Registration for Louisiana Fortify Homes Program Grants to Open September 2 in State’s Coastal Zone

Registration for the next round of Louisiana Fortify Homes Program (LFHP) grants will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, and close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12. As in prior rounds, participants will be randomly selected through a lottery system. There are 500 grants available in this round, which is limited to residents of Louisiana’s Coastal Zone and of Lake Charles, Sulphur and Westlake.

Homeowners who registered during the September 2024 or February 2025 LFHP lotteries will be automatically registered for this new round. Homeowners who registered for a grant round prior to September 2024 must register again to participate.

To register for the lottery, homeowners must create a profile on the LFHP website by clicking the Login button. Homeowners who previously created a profile may use the same one for this and future rounds.

After creating and logging into their LFHP profile, homeowners must register during the registration period in September. People who register on the last day of the registration period have the same chance of being selected as those who register on the first day, so there is no need to rush to register as soon as the period opens.

This round of grants is limited to residents of Louisiana’s Coastal Zone and of Lake Charles, Sulphur and Westlake. To see if your home is located in Louisiana’s Coastal Zone, click here, (south of I-10/12 including Cross Gates) then click the magnifying glass icon in the bottom right corner of the map and enter your address. Homes within the blue-shaded area of the map are eligible. The LFHP will send an email to registrants who are selected to participate.

"We have issued over 3,700 grants since the Fortify Homes Program launched in 2023, and the number of homes FORTIFIED without a grant has also grown tremendously from under 1,000 at the beginning of last year to over 5,500 today," said Comm
