October is Purple for Polio Month. 💜

Last night, Rotary Club of Slidell North Shore members joined Rotary Club of Slidell to receive a proclamation recognizing October as Polio Month.

A special thank you to Council Member and fellow Rotarian Patrick Burke, along with Parish President Mike Cooper, for helping shine a light on Rotary’s continued commitment to ending polio.

For decades, Rotarians around the world have worked to make polio a thing of the past, and we are proud to continue supporting that mission right here at home.

Club member and Executive Director of the Slidell Memorial Hospital Foundation, Laurie Lovell Panzeca, gave our club members a special tour of the Slidell Memorial Hospital Cancer Center.

It was moving to see firsthand the care, compassion, and support being provided to patients and families right here in our community. Through SMH’s partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Network, 98% of cancers can now be treated locally in Slidell—allowing patients to receive high-quality cancer care close to home and close to the people they love.

Join us for a special Rotary Club meeting as we step outside the usual meeting room and tour the Slidell Memorial Cancer Center.

Rotary Club member Laurie Lovell Panzeca, Executive Director of the SMH Foundation, will lead us on a tour of the center. Laurie will give us an inside look at the services and resources available to individuals and families facing cancer in our community.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the important work happening right here in Slidell, ask questions, and see firsthand how our community is supporting patients and their families.

Come learn, connect, and see our community in action!
