President Cooper, St.Tammany Council member's, and Acting DA Simms,
If possible, since there may be discussion of the St. Tammany Library situation in this upcoming St.Tammany council meeting in February, would you please be willing to familiarize yourself with the (more than a year long) evidence brought forth?
With our then, State Attorney General, but now Governor, Jeff Landry's opinion on the matter of our libraries and his campaign that he presented back in the Fall of 2022 in Slidell, it is only a matter of time before our State Legislature will visit this issue again.
Please be willing this year to work to put this issue to rest and be willing to work with the majority opinions of our parish and see to it that your actions, based on conviction and decency, be the deciding factor in order that we may shine brightly as a parish in our state.
Many of our newly elected parish council members were elected specifically for their passion to set resolutions and ordinances in place so that our Library Board of Control would not be able to do what they have now done... dominate a board that uses liberty to try to define indecency that is not in keeping with the scriptures and with the opinions of the majority of our parish.
Please be willing to use your unified efforts to replace the St. Tammany Library Board of Control, for encouraging indecency by not supporting a restricted area of the libraries, so that innocent children will not continue to be exposed to sexually explicit books (specifically targeted to children).
By doing so, we will also be sending a signal to our St. Tammany School board that they should also feel relieved in removing some of the same sexually explicit books from our elementary, middle and high school libraries as well.
Yours, as a concerned and loving St. Tammany Parish Member,
Chaplain David Ziegler (Secretary/ Outreach)
