Stories Across Generations is an intergenerational poetry and prose workshop that brings together participants of different ages to explore personal and collective stories through guided writing prompts, conversation, and creative exercises.

The workshop engages themes of identity, memory, and tradition, bringing people together through poetry and prose to create a joyful space where shared stories reveal unexpected connections and common ground.

The workshop is open to all, requires no prior writing experience, and no prior background in Jewish study or practice is required. Participants will leave with original writing and a deeper sense of connection to their own voice and to others.

This is the 1st installment of the Summer Publishing Series taught by Diane Goettel, Executive Editor of Black Lawrence Press! ☀️

So you have a book coming out soon (or maybe it was recently published!) and feel at sea about how to spread the word. Maybe self-promotion makes you cringe. Maybe social media gives you the ick. But you still want to find your readership. This session is for you.

Goettel will discuss practical DIY marketing strategies that are manageable in scope, affordable, and effective. While this session is intended for those with books under contract or recently published, it will also provide valuable insight to authors interested in learning how to build community and create a platform.

Not all stories can—or should—be told in a linear, cohesive manner. In this intensive, you'll explore the joys (and pitfalls) of fragmented prose and generate new work.

The fragmented, fractured form is capacious and quite possibly, capricious, too. In this intensive, you’ll look at the work of writers to see when and how they employ fractured storytelling.

You'll discuss and analyze what types of stories are perhaps most suitable for this form, saving the final portion of class for generating new work. This analytical and generative workshop is suitable for writers of all levels and genres.
