After 7 years of going on short term mission trips to Honduras, the tremendous need for a daily solution to eradicate malnourishment in the children had become a tremendous burden upon my heart. A doctor in Pennsylvania had also gone to Honduras the same year that Hurricane relief was so greatly needed there. She came back home and developed a high-protein, fat & vitamin cookie, along with 2 cups
of milk, that can pull a child out of malnourishment in a matter of months. In May 2006, I traveled to Honduras and introduced the project to a mission in a small village about an hour out of Tegucigalpa. With the help of donations by local churches and caring individuals, we started our work. God provided us with workers in Honduras and together we have set up various projects that are mandatory for changing the environment to promote better health and hygiene. These projects include the nutrition program, the deworming and Vitamin A project, constructing concrete floors in homes with dirt floors, teaching raised bed gardening, providiing school supplies, school uniforms, shoes and basic hygiene necessities. We bring in a team of workers twice a year to help meet spiritual as well as physical needs of the children and their families. God has blessed us with friends here that pray for us, go with us and help support us. We are constantly being confronted with new challenges in the everyday lives of these precious children. We have seen tremendous strides in the benefits of the nutrition program, but of course it is a continual process. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
