Young entrepreneurs took the stage this week, and they did not disappoint.

At the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, students presented original business ideas, answered questions, and showed just how much creativity and drive is right here in our community.

Congratulations to this year’s winners of the Youth Entrepreneurship Competition:

First place: Camren Tatakis, Cam’s Junk Removal
Second place: Olivia Pelletier, Threads Quest
Third place: Charlotte Haynie, Peak Precision Field Hockey

We’re proud to help create opportunities for students to build confidence, think creatively, and explore entrepreneurship close to home.

Thank you to the Maine State Department of Economic and Community Development for providing cash prizes for the winners, and to Somerset Career & Technical Center (SCTC) and Aspire River Hawks/ Chase Smith Community School for serving as presenting sponsors.

Congratulations to all of the students who participated. We can’t wait to see where your ideas take you next.

What do you do when you welcome five new team members?

You make time to come together.

Our recent biannual staff retreat gave us a chance to get to know one another better, connect across programs, and kick off summer with some delicious burgers.

Four of our newest team members were able to join us in person, but we’re grateful for all five and excited for the energy, experience, and perspective they bring to Main Street Skowhegan.

Congratulations to Maine Grains!

Skowhegan-based Maine Grains has earned national recognition with a Good Food Award for its Organic Einkorn Farro.

The Good Food Awards celebrate food and drink producers across the country that demonstrate both exceptional quality and a commitment to responsible, sustainable practices. Maine Grains was among this year’s Maine winners, alongside other well-known Maine makers including Tootie’s Tempeh and Bixby Chocolate.

We’re proud to see a Skowhegan business helping put Maine grains, local food, and our community on the national stage.

Thank you, Build Maine for two great days in Skowhegan.

We were proud to welcome planners, builders, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers from across Maine to experience our community, explore local projects, and be part of important conversations about the future of our towns and cities.

A special thank you to everyone who visited Skowhegan, supported local businesses, joined the Bites & Sites tour, attended sessions, and helped make the event such a success.

We’re grateful Build Maine chose Skowhegan, and we’re excited to keep building on the energy, ideas, and connections made this week.

We’re excited to welcome Build Maine to Skowhegan for the third year and to have so many community builders, planners, designers, entrepreneurs, and local leaders gathering here in town.

While you’re here, be sure to stop by and support local businesses. Crooked Face Creamery is opening specially today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Unwined- Skowhegan will be open from noon to 8 p.m.
