NAIV Executive Director Dean Dauphinais attended the NCAI Mid Year Convention in Memphis this week.
Dean presented on the progress of NAIV over the past 9 months some of which includes:
Increased membership
Established Executive Committee
Initiated Comprehensive modernization of NAIV’s constitution & bylaws
Expanding National Leadership
Expanding Strategic Partnerships
Initiated engagement with House Committee on Veterans Affairs — including opposing HR 6764
Participation in hosting the Lakota Nations Invitational Veteran Summit
Partnered with California Department of Veterans Affairs (CALVET) on SoCal Native Veteran Mental Health Summit
Co-hosted North Dakota Native American Veteran Stand Down Event on Standing Rock Sioux Tribe
Supporting Resolutions at Mid-year convention:
Native American Religious Affiliations being a distinct religious affiliation recognition category—
Supporting cost free Medicare coverage for American Indian & Alaska Natives
Supporting for Legislation to Expand Access to Safe, non-opioid pain management therapies through the Veterans Affairs
