🔥 AKAWA BUTTE FIRE OPERATIONS UPDATE

Fire officials have released a new operations update for the Akawa Butte Fire, providing the latest information on firefighting efforts and current conditions.

The update features Operations Section Chiefs Tillotson and Chapman, who discuss ongoing suppression efforts, current fire behavior, crew assignments, and operational priorities as firefighters continue working to strengthen containment lines and protect nearby communities and natural resources.

Crews remain focused on limiting fire growth while taking advantage of favorable conditions where possible. Fire managers continue to monitor weather, terrain, and fire activity as operations progress.

🔥 FIRST VIDEO OF THE OAK FIRE WEST OF REDMOND

New video from the scene shows the Oak Fire burning west of Redmond as firefighters continue working to slow the fire’s spread and protect nearby homes and property.

Evacuation notices remain in effect for portions of the area:

• Level 3 (GO NOW) for affected zones closest to the fire.
• Level 2 (BE SET) remains in place for surrounding areas.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay alert, be prepared to leave if conditions worsen, and continue monitoring official evacuation updates as fire activity can change rapidly.

Firefighters remain on scene working to protect structures, establish containment lines, and limit further fire growth. We’ll continue providing updates as more information becomes available.

🔥 DRY CANYON REDMOND FIRE UPDATE

New video from the Dry Canyon Fire shows just how close the flames came to nearby homes as firefighters worked to stop the fire’s advance.

Fire officials say forward progress has been stopped, preventing the fire from spreading farther into surrounding neighborhoods. While one outbuilding was destroyed, officials report that no homes were damaged during the incident.

Firefighters remain on scene extinguishing hot spots, strengthening containment lines, and monitoring the area for any flare-ups as fire danger remains elevated across Central Oregon.

A huge thank you goes out to all of the firefighters and first responders whose quick response helped protect homes and keep the fire from growing into a much larger incident.

CONSTRUCTION ALERT: ADAMS AVENUE STREETSCAPE PROJECT 🚧🚦

Drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and nearby businesses should prepare for traffic impacts as work continues on the Adams Avenue Streetscape Project. Construction is now underway on a section of Adams Avenue, with roadway reconstruction expected to bring temporary closures, lane changes, and delays through the next phase of the project.

Beginning Wednesday, July 8, crews started removing the existing travel lane asphalt and rebuilding the road base, with work progressing from Pine Street west toward Fir Street.

Residents and visitors can expect the following during construction:

• Temporary block closures and/or traffic flaggers in active work zones.
• Intermittent street closures, lane shifts, and traffic restrictions.
• Vehicles will be permitted to drive on the compacted base rock until paving begins in early August.
• Property owners adjacent to the work area will continue to have access coordinated throughout construction.
• Access to homes and businesses will be maintained during the project whenever possible.

Anyone traveling through the area is encouraged to slow down, remain alert, and allow extra travel time while crews complete roadway improvements. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians should use caution around active construction zones and be prepared for brief delays during working hours.

We’ll continue sharing updates on the Adams Avenue Streetscape Project and other important transportation and infrastructure improvements affecting the Sisters community.

OFFICIAL DOMINO’S OPENING SCHEDULE RELEASED 🍕📅

Sisters new Domino’s location has officially posted its operating schedule ahead of opening, giving the community its first look at daily lobby, carryout, pickup, and delivery hours. The restaurant is located at 620 N Arrowleaf Trail in Sisters.

Customers can expect the same operating hours for both carryout and delivery services throughout the week, with extended late-night hours on Fridays and Saturdays.

• Carryout / Lobby Hours:
• Sunday–Thursday: 10:30 AM – 12:00 AM
• Friday–Saturday: 10:30 AM – 1:00 AM

• Delivery / Pickup Window Hours:

• Friday–Saturday: 10:30 AM – 1:00 AM

The new restaurant is opening in the former Subway building, bringing another dining option to Sisters with both in-store pickup and delivery service available during posted business hours.

🍕 DOMINO’S IS COMING TO SISTERS!

Construction is nearly complete on the new Domino’s Pizza location in Sisters, which is taking over the former Subway building.

The restaurant is currently expected to open on July 13, bringing another quick dining option to the community. Hiring has already been underway in recent weeks as the new location prepares to welcome its first customers.

Once open, residents and visitors can expect carryout, delivery, and online ordering, adding another convenient food option to the growing Sisters business community.

🚨 COYNER FIRE NOW 20.7 ACRES

Firefighters continue making progress on the Coyner Fire north of Redmond, with updated mapping showing the fire has grown to 20.7 acres. The fire is currently 10% contained as crews remain on scene strengthening containment lines and working to fully secure the area.

The fire footprint remains long and narrow, with firefighters reporting occasional tree torching approximately once per hour. Mop-up operations are ongoing, and additional local contract crews have joined the response to assist.

Current evacuation status:
• Level 2 (BE SET) remains in effect for areas that were previously under Level 3 evacuations.
• Residents are encouraged to stay prepared and continue monitoring emergency alerts in case conditions change.

Two fire engines will remain at the scene overnight to monitor fire activity and protect nearby homes and property. NW Helmholtz Way remains open, but motorists are asked to use caution as firefighters and emergency vehicles continue working in the area.

Current evacuation levels remain:

• Level 2 (BE SET): Zone RED-131-A

Residents in the affected areas should remain prepared, avoid the scene, and continue monitoring official evacuation alerts as fire conditions can change quickly.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Given that the fire started on the Fourth of July, many believe it may have been human-caused and related to the mishandling of fireworks, though officials have not confirmed a cause.

📸 NEW PHOTOS OF THE COYNER FIRE IN REDMOND

New photos show the intensity of the Coyner Fire as crews continue battling the wildfire in northwest Redmond. The blaze has grown to approximately 7 acres and is threatening nearby structures and electrical infrastructure.

The fire was reported around 8:30 p.m. near NW Tetherow Road and NW Hemholtz Way, prompting a large emergency response from local fire agencies.

Current evacuation levels:
• Level 3 (GO NOW): Zone RED-131-B
• Level 2 (BE SET): Zone RED-131-A

Firefighters remain on scene working to contain the fire, protect homes, and prevent further spread. Residents in and around the affected area are urged to stay alert, avoid the area, and follow all evacuation orders and emergency notifications.
