You’ve heard of Mozart, but who is Glazunov? 🤔
🎼 Here’s a quick introduction: Alexander Glazunov (1865-1936) was a Russian composer who started as a teenage prodigy and is know for writing lush, well-crafted chamber and orchestral music that is enjoyable to perform because the textures are clear and the lines are satisfying to play. He later helped shape the next generation of Russian musicians as director of the St. Petersburg Conservatory.
In our Program B: Mozart and Glazunov, you’ll experience Glazunov’s Quintet in A Major, Op. 39 - a piece of music with a warm, flowing sense of melody and a rich harmonic palette combining lush Romantic lyricism with clear, intimate interplay between the instruments. Each player gets a chance to shine, but no one dominates for long. 🎻 In short: it’s a beautiful example of chamber music that is both technically refined and genuinely moving.
Audiences will have four chances to catch this exhilarating performance - beginning tonight!
