Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Annual Cop on a Donut Shop at Jerry’s Cakes and Donuts. We had an incredible time, and we deeply appreciate every single person who stopped by to support our athletes. Because of your immense generosity, you help make the Special Olympics more successful each year, turning dreams into reality for our local athletes.
The event was a massive success, though we did provide a bit of unexpected entertainment this year. Things got interesting when we had to call in our favorite local firefighters to "rescue" the officers from the roof—proving once and for all that law enforcement and the fire department truly are an unbeatable team, even if they had to bail us out of a donut-induced predicament! Jokes aside, we are incredibly fortunate to share such a strong bond and friendship with our local Fire Department. We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to them for always having our backs and for everything they do to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
We also want to extend a very special and deeply respectful thank you to retired Rapid City Police Officer Bill Egan. It is entirely accurate to say that if it were not for his vision and dedication, the Law Enforcement Torch Run would not be possible today. Mr. Egan began raising money for the Special Olympics back in the 1980s, laying the vital groundwork for the incredible community support we experience now. We are truly and profoundly grateful for his decades of leadership and his unwavering commitment to our athletes. Thank you, Mr. Egan, for your outstanding legacy and your continued support for our local athletes. 🥰
Also, thank you to our amazing athletes for coming and helping us out. We could not have done this without you.
Thank you to everyone for making this year's event truly unforgettable. 🫶🏻🫶🏻
