The mission of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps is to build leaders of character by imbuing in the cadets the highest ideals of honor, respect, commitment, and service through leadership and hands on skills training.

Another great drill weekend. You never know who might show up. This weekend we had an impromptu visit by REDCOM, Captain Husband, Instruction from Master Chief Cann, and medical training from Navy Corpman HM2 Ekstrom. One of the benefits of training in a active reserve center.

What an amazing drill weekend we had. Cadets loved having their uniforms on, they were dialed in all weekend. We also started working with our new color guard equipment. NLCC got their shirts and Dixie hats, NSCC tried on some dress blues for the first time as well.

Thank you Caitlin Davis for buying lunch for the entire Division.

Today our cadets finally got their 1st set of uniforms. But they had to learn how to do some seam ripping to get the US Navy tags off. Then they got invited to see 4 sailors at the reserve center get "frocked" to their new ranks.

One drill at a time learning what it means to be a Sea Cadet and serve with pride and honor.

Here in South Dakota we are working hard getting our program underway as our Division continues to grow. We have made it through Recruit Oriantation. We have been working on drills, PT, and some knot tying also. We have got to take part in some Pinning Ceremonies with the Navy Reserve. We also got invited by the Army reserve to come and check out some weapons.
