Who says the cadets get to have ALL the fun? Even the CO gets to play a little. Here is our CO supporting the Disabled American Veterans Golf Tournament on the 18th hole by holding the flag on the final putt. STG2 Rios from NRC Sioux Falls was also in on the action supporting our greatest heroes.

From a gun salute to young Sea Cadets presenting the colors, the USS South Dakota Day of Honor connected generations through a shared legacy of service and remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives.

Today, the Battleship South Dakota Memorial held it's annual Day of Honor, honoring the 3 vessels that have been named for South Dakota. Once again our cadets were honored to do the color guard for this event. They also toured the battleship museum afterwards and learned about the ship and it's rich history. Seaman Apprentice Sasonov was even asked to be on TV and pitch the Sea cadets!

Our cadets learned a valuable civics lesson. Today was the Governors runoff election here in South Dakota. Our cadets, along with Civil Air Patrol and others, assisted with carrying in the ballot boxes and voting station materials. At the end they were invited up to the floor where the ballots get counted, and results reported. Community Service is a big part of the Sea Cadet mission, and these fine young men and women are learning what it means to serve. Invaluable life lessons. Bravo Zulu Sea Cadets!

This past weekend at the Power on the Prairie Airshow in Sioux Falls, our cadets were guests of the US Navy, allowing us to share their space and setup our tables. We had a lot of interest, and the cadets were able to interact with multiple agencies represented.

We are growing every month, but have plenty of room for more! If you have a child/teen ages 10 to 18 (5th to 12th) or know someone who does and would like more information, contact our division via this page, www.seacadets.org, or www.seacadetssd.org .

We train (drill) one weekend a month, 10 months out of the year. We focus on leadership development, discipline, teamwork while learning about Seamanship, Aviation, Career exploration and many others. We wear US Navy/Coast Guard patterned uniforms, follow military style guidelines and regulations, but have a lot of fun at the same time! Come check us out!

Over the last two days, our Sea Cadets have had the amazing opportunity to discover aviation, meet the USAF Thunderbirds pilots and crews. They were able to get close up, ask questions.Additionally, they were able to meet and collaborate with the US Coast Guard, Commemorative Air Force and several other organizations.

We welcome all youth, ages 10 to 18. Sea Cadets meet once a month on a "drill weekend", wear Naval style uniforms, learn discipline, seamanship, teamwork while having fun and building lasting friendships.

Today our cadets assisted the VFW with their America 250 parade float. Each one of them earned their America 250 ribbon. Great job today!
