1981 was a big year. MTV launched. Prince Charles married Lady Diana. And 77 service members gathered for the inaugural .

What began as seven events has now grown into the world's largest annual wheelchair sports and rehabilitation event exclusively for U.S. military , bringing more than 500 athletes to for the 45th National Veterans Wheelchair Games.
