A federal judge in Rhode Island on Friday ruled for the third time that the U.S. Department ​of Veterans Affairs cannot terminate a union contract covering 320,000 employees, in another blow to the Trump administration's efforts to strip ‌federal workers of collective bargaining rights.

Today, Judge DuBose granted NVAC’s motion to enforce her March 13 preliminary injunction in the wake of VA’s latest plan to “re-terminate” our MCBA on August 8.

Following NVAC's latest motion to enforce the March 13 preliminary injunction reinstating our collective bargaining agreement, Judge DuBose scheduled an expedited briefing for tomorrow, August 7, at 9:30 AM ET, which will be broadcast live on the court's YouTube channel.

NVAC’s request for an expedited briefing schedule was granted, taking into consideration the VA’s plan to re-terminate the contract on August 8. AFGE/NVAC looks forward to continuing to litigate the case on the merits and remains confident of a positive outcome following tomorrow's briefing.

The Veterans Affairs Department says it is following the terms of an expiring agreement. AFGE argues VA is ignoring a requirement to keep the contract in place during negotiations.

We're meeting every second Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. Drop in whenever, stay as long as you like. Family friendly. No registration needed.

This is a space for union members, workers thinking about organizing, and anyone who wants to help build the labor movement in the Sioux Falls area. Each month we'll have a short program covering labor history, how to organize a union, and how to grow and strengthen the unions we already have.

June 14 we're starting with the basics and getting to know each other. Programming builds from there.
