Learning doesn't have to be serious to be effective! 💛

This week, the mothers of our scholarship students in Tamahú gathered for a School for Parents workshop focused on ways to support their children when they struggle in school.

To make the training more interactive, the mothers participated in a variety of games and activities. Before long, the room was filled with laughter as this normally serious group of women embraced the fun and learned together.

We love moments like these that remind us that learning happens best when people are engaged, encouraged, and enjoying themselves. 🌿

Building confidence at every age 💛

Our friends from ADISA recently led a self-esteem workshop for the elders at the Elder Center. Together, the elders reflected on their lives, sharing successes they were proud of, challenges they had overcome, and words of encouragement for one another.

The workshop concluded with a creative activity as each elder painted a flower using their fingerprints as petals—a colorful reminder that every person is unique and has something beautiful to contribute.

It was a morning filled with reflection, creativity, and community. 🌿

Sometimes, the greatest assistance our tutors can provide is moral support and encouragement. Heber is a high school senior studying towards a degree as an electrical technician. In his tutoring session today, he worked on a project to create a fan using a motor and battery. He nailed it thanks to his hard work and a little encouragement from his tutor.

As part of our School for Parents workshops in Santiago, we were invited to participate in the Family Day Celebration in town! The scholarship students' parents participated in activities throughout the day before becoming the trainers. Each group was given the opportunity to do a presentation, and our scholarship student parents presented on a recent workshop topic for them: Your emotions and parenting.

We're so proud of the parents for conquering their fear of public speaking and sharing their newfound knowledge with others 🥰

Meet Patricia 💛

Patricia is a single mother of five who works tirelessly to create a better future for her children. To support her family, she weaves Guatemala’s traditional blouse, called a güipil, on the backstrap loom and bakes cakes that she sells piece by piece by going door to door in her community.

Always eager to learn and grow, Patricia jumped at the opportunity to join footloom weaving classes after previously taking courses through the Women’s Center in San Lucas. Each new skill brings her one step closer to her dream of one day owning her own business.

Everything Patricia does is for the wellbeing of her children—and through our Artisan Development Program, women like Patricia are gaining the tools, skills, and opportunities to turn their dreams into reality.

💛 You can help women like Patricia support their families and build brighter futures by making a donation to our Artisan Development Program.
