🍎 Teacher Appreciation Week is Next Week! 🍎

The PTO has lots of special things planned to celebrate our amazing SSE teachers and staff, and they need your help to make the week extra meaningful!

On Tuesday, May 5th, let’s Fill the Lounge with Love

The PTO is asking SSE students and families to consider contributing items to help stock the teachers’ lounge with treats and encouragement.

🎨 Student Art
🎁 Anything that shows love and support!

Join us at Sonia Sotomayor Elementary this Friday, January 30th for our annual movie night! We will be showing Bad Guys 2 in the gym for a fun family / school community night!
Doors open at 6pm, movie starts at 6:15pm
Concessions - popcorn, candy, drinks - available for sale!
Bring a pillow and blanket, grab a snack, and enjoy a movie with friends and classmates!

Congratulations to the 14 Sonia Sotomayor Elementary School teachers who were nominated for the 38th Annual Dr. John W. Harris Teacher of the Year Award. This recognition, coming from students, families, and colleagues, speaks volumes about the impact you make every day.

The Sioux Falls School District, along with our friends at Vern Eide and the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation, is proud to announce that 105 outstanding educators have been nominated for the 38th Annual Dr. John W. Harris Teacher of the Year Award!

These teachers were nominated by students, parents, and colleagues who see firsthand the difference they make every day.

A judging committee will meet soon to select this year’s finalists. Finalists will be notified, and the 2026 Teacher of the Year will be announced on Monday, February 23rd!
