August 23, 2026 - Jorgen would be 32 years old today. We've been without him now for 15 years. Saying that number out loud makes it hard to believe it's been that long, because at times it feels like only yesterday, he was still here. I think about him every day, especially these past two weeks. I was able to get his truck out, drive it around town, take it to the car wash, and just drive. It allows me to feel connected to him in a way that gives me a sense of peace that he's still with me and still keeping tabs on his big brother. I miss him, we all do. He was a special guy, a friend to everyone who walked in his path. His dry sense of humor, his taste in music and movies, and love of sports allowed him to connect with everyone he encountered. Before he left us, he had a vision to keep connecting and caring for others. He asked that the JY6 Foundation officially be incorporated on his 17th birthday just a few months later, knowing he wouldn't be here anymore. What a gift he gave us and what incredible insight from a 16 year old. The JY6 has allowed us to do exactly what Jorgen wanted: fight cancer and recognize nurses. That's allowed us to connect with people just as Jorgen would and be a positive force for those who need it. He also had the wisdom to make sure that on a day that would be difficult for his family and friends, knowing that another year had come and gone, that we would have reason to celebrate him in a very positive way. Jorgen was a pretty clever guy. Anyone who knew him knew that about him. So today, while you think of Jorgen's birthday and the time that has passed, remember him for his positive attitude, his remarkable spirit, his ability to connect with others and have a positive impact with everyone he came in contact with. He left behind an incredible gift for us to continue to do so. God Bless. Stay Strong. Jorgen's Brother.

Congratulations to Henry Pudwill for being awarded the Spirit of Jorgen at tonight’s banquet for Lincoln High School Baseball. Katrina was able to present the award alongside last years recipient, Colin Lunders.
