An active Amateur Radio Club in Sioux Falls South Dakota.Club meetings are the first Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. Sigler Ave. in Sioux Falls.

CDT at the Minnehaha County Emergency Management Building at 608 N. Our meetings are open to the public. The Sioux Empire Amateur Radio Club maintains the 146.895- repeater (PL 146.2) for all amateurs to use in the Sioux Falls area. Please remember to follow good amateur practice while using the repeater and avoid long periods of extended use to allow others to use it as well. If you make regular

use of the repeater, you are encouraged to become a member of the club to support the maintenance and upkeep of the repeater. The Club also maintains the 444.200+ repeater (PL 82.5). This repeater is also open and available for all amateurs in (or passing through) the area to use.

The 2026 Sioux Falls Hamfest is happening Saturday, July 25 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3801 E 26th St, Sioux Falls. Doors open at 8:00 AM, the event wraps at noon, and admission is free. Congratulations to SEARC member Magnus Olson (N0GUS) on a remarkable achievement.

Magnus just turned 18 and has earned all 142 Boy Scout merit badges — every one available. He's an Eagle Scout and one of only a handful of Scouts in the country to earn the Distinguished Conservation Service Award. His conservation work with SD Game, Fish & Parks on zebra mussel detection has earned national recognition.

You may know him closer to home: Magnus built our club's Morse code exhibit. His dad Byron is also a licensed ham and SEARC member.

Armed Forces Day Crossband Test — May 9, 2026

Today the US Naval Academy Amateur Radio Club (W3ADO) activated the historic NSS callsign for Armed Forces Day — transmitting from the grounds of the former US Navy radio transmitting facility in Annapolis, MD. This annual DoD crossband test has been running for over 50 years. Military stations transmit on military frequencies while monitoring amateur HF bands. VE Test Session — Tuesday, May 12th

If you've been meaning to get your ham radio license — or upgrade from Technician to General or Extra — Monday, May 12th is a good time to make it happen. W1AW/0 South Dakota is On the Air — Operators Needed Through May 5th

W1AW/0 is active in South Dakota as part of the ARRL's AM250 Worked All States event — and the operation needs operators! The South Dakota activation runs through May 5th at 2359z. More operators are being requested to make sure South Dakota is well-represented in this national event. Sign-ups are for two-hour blocks, and multiple operators can be on at the same time as long as they're on different bands and modes....
