We have a lot to celebrate at the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation - including a record year of grantmaking, where philanthropy made a true difference across our community.

Here's a quick by the numbers, showing the generosity shaping Sioux Falls. For more details on our past year, including a look at some of the nonprofits doing important work in Sioux Falls, check out our 2026 Annual Report: https://sfacf.pulse.ly/dtlvtjeqci

Getting a jump on year-end charitable giving plans?

'Bunching' is important to consider if you don't want to find yourself scrambling to synchronize tax planning, financial planning and gifts to favorite nonprofits.

Changes to charitable tax deduction rules mean thoughtful planning is more important than ever.

The essence of bunching is that, rather than making similar-sized charitable donations every year, you would combine two or more years of charitable gifts up front into a single tax year.

Now is the time to begin conversations with your tax and financial advisors about bunching and about your charitable plans in general. Loop us in early and let us help you make the most of your giving.

We asked, and you delivered!

Last week, hundreds of Sioux Falls residents gathered to share their feedback about what the Quarry at the Falls could become.

It was just the first opportunity to shape the city's newest greenspace, made possible by a partnership with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and the Bezos Earth Fund, whose $15 million grant through the Greening America's Cities initiative will help transform this 16.3-acre site into a nature-filled park.

Here are a few photos from the event. And if you missed it, don't worry: There's plenty of time to give your feedback here: https://thinkconfluence.pulse.ly/6laj6bdcir

A former industrial quarry next to Falls Park is getting a new life. 🌿

This week, we celebrated our partnership with Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation and the Bezos Earth Fund, whose $15 million grant through the Greening America's Cities initiative will help transform this 16.3-acre site into a nature-filled park.

This kind of work doesn't happen alone - and a community park doesn't develop without community input. We are so grateful for the many residents who came out last night to share their vision of what this site can become.

Wildflowers? Urban fishing? Walking trails? Playground? It's all on the table - and we can't wait to hear more about what you want.

Yesterday was just the beginning.

We awarded more than $170,000 in grants in our latest round of funding.

“We have a great variety of grants this round, and that’s a testament to all the work being done in Sioux Falls,” said Patrick Gale, vice president of community investment. “We’re happy to support these causes and to continue our mission of improving the quality of life for people in Sioux Falls.”

The deadline for the next round of funding is Oct. 1.
