Have a seat, get comfy, and let us tell you all about recycling! 😎♻️🪑

Thank you to our local Costco for their donation and helping us provide support to our staff and volunteers during the frequent events BINfluencer attends across the area! 🚚💨
We love coordinating with you during your business’s annual sustainability week, and we are thrilled to share this ongoing relationship dedicated to educating, inspiring, and encouraging our local communities to reduce, reuse, recycle, and rethink waste.

Keep recycling! 💚

We were at Lloyd Landing near the Steel District downtown this past month for Conservation in the City!

A beautiful day by the river, exploring the different ways—such as recycling—we can care for our local parks, wildlife, waterways, and pollinators. Plenty of hands-on activities featuring conservation were available and we were happy to be there!

Have questions about recycling? We’re your team to ask for everything local you might be unsure of, or just interested in. Comment your questions below, or use our What-Goes-Where search tool to look up different items and materials here 👉 https://thebinfluencers.org/app-what-goes-where

Check out our shiny new gear! ✨ We even got a big umbrella to shield us from all the rain we’ve been having recently. No recyclables getting soaked through here—clean and dry in the bin! ☔♻️
That cargo net draped over the counter will secure our tools and contents of the BINfluencer Recycling Education Trailer, so we can arrive ready to talk recycling at events and other outings. 🚚💨💪

Thank you to Grainger of Sioux Falls for this donation of equipment to help us out during our educational events and excursions! Your business has been a longtime supporter of our mission to educate, inspire, and encourage our local communities to reduce, reuse, recycle, and rethink waste.
Keep recycling! ♻️

🔥 A timely reminder from Sioux Falls Fire Rescue:
Lithium-ion batteries NEVER belong in your recycling bin! Batteries can be damaged during collection and processing, creating a serious fire risk for recycling facilities and workers.

Keep batteries and battery-powered devices out of your recycling and trash, and take them to the proper drop-off location instead.

This last full week of September marks Recycling Awareness Week, and The Association of Plastic Recyclers released the results from their 2nd annual Recycling in Action month in May.

41 facilities across 21 states partook, giving curious visitors a behind-the-scenes look into the recycling process. Our local partner, Millennium Recycling, Inc was one of these facilities! Be sure to check out the awesome results and happy Recycling Awareness Week!

Keep recycling! ♻

According to the The Association of Plastic Recyclers, after the tours, 78% of attendees said they believed recycling works better than they previously thought, while 78% expressed strong confidence that what they put in the recycling bin actually gets recycled. Even better, 89% said they were very likely to share what they learned with others!

We had a bit of a stormy Labor Day weekend! Thankfully, our canopy didn’t blow away while we were at the Falls Park Farmer's Market this Saturday. Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to attend the market and stop by our BINfluencer booth! 🌥️💨

Recycling doesn’t need to be shrouded in uncertainty like a stormy day. We started this nonprofit to make local resources and recycling more accessible for you. We’re here to answer all your questions on recycling right, so ask away! ♻️

Shoutout to Bonnie Funk and the folks at Peaceful Pines Senior Living in Madison! What an awesome and meaningful project that's been going strong for 10 years and counting!

A Madison woman has spent about 10 years making mattresses out of plastic bags for the homeless population in Sioux Falls.

Here's her story ➡️ https://www.dakotanewsnow.com/2026/09/07/how-one-woman-turns-plastic-bags-into-purpose-unhoused/

We returned to the Levitt to celebrate at this year's Mitakuye Owas’iƞ * All My Relatives * Mitákuye Oyás’iŋ Festival! 🎵🎶 Thank you so much to all who came by the trailer to learn about one of the many ways we can be more waste-conscious for a sustainable future.

We hope to be back again next year! Keep recycling! ♻️

This was our last trip out to the Lake Lorraine Farmers Market for this summer, but we were happy to make the most of it! Thank you, once more, to everyone who stopped by our booth to talk about recycling local. ♻️💚

We'll be shifting gears and preparing to visit schools with the trailer soon, so you might see us around this fall! But not before our appearance at this year's Riverfest! 🌊🎉 We hope to see you there on Sept 19!
In the meantime, keep recycling and have a great Labor Day weekend!
