Did you know that farmers who prevent diseases early get more eggs, faster growth, and better survival rates from their chickens?

Disease prevention is one of the most important steps in successful chicken farming.

Here are key diseases every farmer should know, and how to prevent them:

1. Marek’s Disease – causes paralysis and loss of vision. There is no cure, but early vaccination protects young chicks.

2. Newcastle Disease – causes coughing, twisted necks, and sudden deaths. It has no cure and must be prevented through vaccination.

3. Gumboro (Infectious Bursal Disease) – causes weakness and watery droppings. It is preventable through timely vaccination.

4. Coccidiosis – causes bloody diarrhoea and poor growth. Prevent it by keeping houses clean and dry and using the correct treatment when needed.

5. Fowl Pox – causes sores on the face and breathing difficulty. It is preventable with vaccination.

Good management makes the difference:

✅ Vaccinate chickens on schedule
✅ Keep poultry houses clean, dry, and well ventilated
✅ Feed chickens well and keep feeders and drinkers clean

Village-based Advisors (VBAs) and agrodealers are available in your area to provide vaccination and other disease prevention services.

We were thrilled to host some of our program partners at our most recent A Night for Change event, which highlighted some of our shared projects and showed that we can accomplish so much more when we come together. Thanks to incredible donors, supporters, and partners, we're humbled to see what has been accomplished so far — but we're just getting started!

We're still buzzing from all the excitement of A Night for Change 2024! It was our favorite event yet ✨

Thanks to everyone who attended, sponsored, bid on the silent auction, or contributed in any way, we were able to raise over $200,000 dollars in just ONE NIGHT! Those funds will go directly toward Seeds of Change programming and be put to work changing lives across the globe.
