Wanted to share this post from the council..

Pierson Ranch Cycling Merit Badge Weekend Recap:
1. Great weather for October if you don’t mind 40 mph sustained winds in your face.
2. Don’t always trust how other people classify trail routes.
2.a. Bend don’t ’break
2.b. Tis only a flesh wound
3. Knowing First Aid is always good.
4. Marching Bands competitions take priority on a bridge over scouts who want to cross that bridge to a better trail ride than the one we ended up on.
5. Hobo dinners over charcoals are still amazing.
6. Pudgey Pies (cast iron pie irons) are well received by the scouts. Most will eat two and some more.
7. Snipes are elusive creatures. Snipes 1 Scouts 0 but we shall overcome.
8. Making memories and continuing to learn while having fun is the whole point.

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates when he once said, “Total Carnage.”

We found dirt for our Cycling Merit Badge. No one died but we did put our First Aid training to good use.

Our Troop was using the “urban adventure center” at the council office over this weekend so we had a lot there to witness the awards

Several of us took photos this weekend so I will let everyone post their own for the families to find. Thank you to Scoutmaster Chris for organizing our stay at Camp Rapid. The boys loved the barracks and I loved access to the industrial kitchen. We started Friday in the Electronic Shooting Range for our morning activity than moved out to the Airport to visit the SD Army National Guard Aviation Facility to learn about helicopters. Friday night a smaller group moved out to Medicine Mountain Scout Ranch and I will let Justin share those photos. The remaining scouts went to Jewel Cave on Saturday morning than fishing during the afternoon at Medicine Mountain.

I do want to add a thank you to the parents having trust in us to let us take the boys for an extra day. This weekend was truly a valuable learning experience for everyone. Cory
