Active Generations and Southeast SHIINE are expanding! We are now providing free, unbiased Medicare counseling across 28 additional central and western counties to bring trusted Medicare support to even more South Dakotans.

The DHS Division of Long Term Services and Supports has contracted with Active Generations to provide SHIINE services in West River South Dakota. Active Generations is an experienced provider that has served the State of South Dakota for many years. They will offer the same services previously provided by Western South Dakota Community Action (WSDCA), which has chosen not to provide SHIINE services this year.

If you’d like to set up an appointment to discuss your Medicare enrollment, please call the SHIINE Call Center at 1‑888‑854‑5321.

Medicare Open Enrollment begins October 15th. Don’t miss your opportunity to review your coverage and explore your options!

Visiting Main Campus this week? Please review the updated construction information to ensure you know where to park and which entrance to use.

Wednesday, September 30
- The east parking lot near Adult Day Services (ADS) will remain closed. Drop-offs and pick-ups may continue under the ADS canopy, but no vehicles should be parked in the lot. Please use other available parking areas when visiting. Crews will begin cleaning and preparing cracks for resurfacing later in the afternoon.

Thursday, October 1
- The east parking lot near ADS will remain closed as resurfacing work begins early in the morning. Please continue to use alternate parking areas and enter through the main building entrance until the lot is reopened.

Friday, October 2
- Resurfacing work will move to the parking lot between Active Generations and Bergland Apartments, impacting access to the main entrance area. Visitors should enter through the east entrance or the entrance on the Bergland Apartments side during construction.

Saturday, October 3 & Sunday, October 4
- Crews will complete the remaining parking lot work, including the area behind the building.

Please allow extra time when visiting and follow staff directions as needed. We appreciate your patience and understanding as these improvements are completed and apologize for any inconvenience.
