Every family’s time with their baby is precious. 🤍

Today, on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, we honor the babies whose lives were far too brief and the families who carry their love forever.

At Sanford, we’re working to bring Sioux Falls’ first dedicated birthing and bereavement unit to life - a place of comfort, privacy and compassionate care for families facing the heartbreak of delivering a baby they won’t bring home.

The unit will feature two bereavement suites with comforts like a bedroom, kitchen area, full bath, fireplace and peaceful surroundings. Away from the sights and sounds of a traditional birth floor, families will have space to hold their baby, gather loved ones and spend precious time together.

But, we need your help! This project is made possible entirely through philanthropy. It’s a beautiful opportunity to surround families with love during an unimaginable loss. Every gift, of any amount, will help bring this space to life. 🩵🩷🪽

While thousands of kids in our communities have gone back to school, for pediatric patients facing a serious illness or ongoing treatment, school can feel like a world away.

Thanks to generosity, hospital teachers Lynsey Kjos and Hope Stromsodt help kids continue learning so they can remain in their current grade and feel prepared for a successful return to the classroom.

"I have the privilege of helping students stay connected to learning during an unexpected chapter in their lives," says Lynsey. "I love giving students one-on-one support that builds their confidence and keeps them connected to learning."

This year's All-Staff Retreat brought our team together to learn, connect and collaborate. Through Myers-Briggs personality training, peer-led breakout discussions, shared conversations over a meal, and a hands-on donor relationship game, we gained new insights and strengthened the relationships that help drive our mission forward.
