I’ve been avoiding this post for a while now, dreading the reality of what needs to be said. After six years of serving the Sioux Falls community, It Takes a Village will be pausing its services indefinitely. I’m deeply saddened to have reached this conclusion, as it has been an incredible privilege to grow this organization and work alongside non-profit partners in service of those in need. However, due to personal reasons, my family has relocated out of the country and will be unable to continue this work.
While our organization was small, our impact was meaningful. The organizations we helped support continue to run dry of essential hygiene items due to the growing need. The economic challenges our community faces have the greatest impact on the most vulnerable populations. Additionally, these hardships place mounting pressure on non-profits to expand their services with fewer resources to do so. As we head into the coldest months of the year, it is essential that our community rise to the challenge to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
Thank you to everyone who supported this work and helped me learn and grow along the way. Thank you to the Sutton Leadership Institute for inspiring me to get engaged. Thank you to EmBe for their sponsorship and endless mentorship. And most importantly, thank you to all of the donors, volunteers, friends, and family who answered my calls for help and showed up with enthusiasm. You made my little dream into a big reality, and I will forever be indebted.
Please consider supporting these organizations that continue to serve the Sioux Falls community: - - - - - - - .southdakota - .clinic - -
