‼️HB1080 is an unnecessary and discriminatory bill directed at trans youth that had no business passing state legislature. Those who voted yes to this bill are not friends or allies of the community. SFPEN opposes this bill strongly and wants the trans community to know that we stand behind them. As legislators spew lies about trans care, SFPEN will do everything we can to continue to advocate for the trans community.‼️

Sioux Falls Pride Equity Network opposes the passing of HB 1080—a transphobic bill to ban gender-affirming care for youth. Let us be clear that gender-affirming care is lifesaving. All major medical organizations support the use of puberty blockers/pausers and Hormone Replacement Therapy. The South Dakota Legislature is voting for a bill that goes directly against the medical community. Furthermore, the legislature is adding to risk factors that put trans youth at heightened risk for anxiety, depression, and suicidality. They are not “protecting kids,” they are adding to potential deaths. While the legislature wants to make Q***r people disappear, let it be known that we will not back down. We will always be here. We will continue to fight-especially for our trans family.

HB 1080, a bill banning lifesaving gender-affirming care for trans youth, is scheduled to be heard on the Senate Floor today.

Please, contact your legislator ASAP and tell them to vote NO.
