The mission of the Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools Foundation is to financially support the Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools by helping people experience the joy of giving of their blessings from God, through major gifts and planned giving and by being good stewards of the assets entrusted to us. We work to sustain the future of our Catholic education through long-term funding sources such as endowments and scholarships.

Today, the Foundation was honored to attend the Senior Awards Mass at O'Gorman High School. Fr. Tony Klein, the high school chaplain, celebrated Mass for the seniors and their families.

We also awarded several Foundation college scholarships including the Don and Jo Dougherty Scholarship, the Helen E. Miller Memorial Scholarship, the Msgr. James Michael Doyle USD Scholarship, the Heckenlaible Memorial Scholarship, the Bailey Aleksandr Lauret Memorial Scholarship, the Cooper Johnson & Jim Beddow O’Gorman Tennis Scholarship, and the Michael Barnett Memorial Scholarship/Outstanding Oral Interp Award.

Congratulations to the recipients and to all the graduates! May God bless you in all of your future endeavors!

We would also like to thank all of our generous benefactors who make these scholarships possible. You are a blessing to the students and families of Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools.

Today the Foundation had the privilege of awarding Lillian Kerr with the Spirit of Michael Sieverding Award. Chosen by O'Gorman High School faculty and staff, this honor is bestowed upon an incoming senior who exemplifies the qualities that were exhibited by Michael Sieverding (Class of 2007) – well-rounded, hardworking, faith-filled, and a team player.

As the 2026 recipient of this award, Lillian will receive a $1,000.00 credit for the 2026-2027 school year to be used towards tuition and/or the extracurricular activities of her choice. Congratulations, Lillian!

For most of us, our financial priorities can be narrowed down to two primary goals: paying less in taxes and having income that will last our entire lives.

The year-end is a perfect time to consider some minor adjustments that can help secure both goals while giving back to Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools. With the right tools, you can save on taxes, increase your income, and help others while helping yourself. https://bishopoglegacy.org/

Here are some ways you can shift tax dollars to charitable dollars and support
future generations of Knights.

✨ IRA Charitable Rollover – Persons age 70½ or older can rollover up to $100,000 from their IRA to a qualified charity like the Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools Foundation. This may lower your income and taxes.

✨ Outright Gift of an Asset – Make a gift of stock, real estate or another asset, avoid paying capital gains tax on the transfer and receive a tax-saving charitable deduction.

✨ Donor Advised Fund (DAF) – Make a tax-deductible gift to a DAF, which gives you the ability to make grants to your favorite charities this year and in future years.

✨ Zero-Tax Gift and Sale – Make a gift of part of an investment or property you intend to sell, avoid paying capital gains tax on the sale and receive cash back.

✨ Day 4 of National Estate Planning Awareness Week ✨

We all want to leave a meaningful mark—but what kind of legacy will you leave?

Many of us feel a calling to make a difference, to ensure our lives continue to have an impact long after we’re gone. A current estate plan (or will) is key to:

💙 Carrying out your final wishes
💙 Protecting your loved ones
💙 Supporting the charities and causes you care about

In short, an estate plan helps you leave a lasting personal legacy for future generations.
