✨ Last night at AHG, our girls teamed up with Trail Life Troop 1012, and together they packed 97 Operation Christmas Child boxes for kids around the world. It truly was such a sweet night.
❤️ We started by talking about what Operation Christmas Child is, why it matters, and how a simple shoebox can bring so much joy and hope to a child who may not receive anything else this Christmas. You could really see the girls taking that in and realizing this wasn’t just a fun activity. It was something meaningful, and ended up being such a good chance for them to live out so many parts of the American Heritage Girls Creed.
🤍 They showed compassion as they thought about what another child might need or love. They showed responsibility in taking care of their boxes and making sure they were filled well and brought back on time. They showed selflessness by putting another child’s needs and wishes first. But they also showed how caring they are, really wanting each box to feel special. They were helpful by doing their part to support the whole project. Keeping their items organized, staying on task, and helping the process run smoothly as they packed each box. And at the end of the night, when they gathered to pray over the boxes, they showed such a reverent heart, wanting God to guide each box to the exact child who needs it.
💙 Each girl had taken her box home to fill a couple weeks ago, and they brought them all back last night, some even found a little extra room and added more items. They wrote letters to tuck inside, hoping the child who opens their box feels loved and encouraged. Once they finished, we labeled and sealed everything so the boxes are all ready to go.
✨ We closed the night by praying over every single box and every boy and girl who will receive one. We prayed that each box ends up exactly where it should, and that the kids who open them feel the love of Jesus in a real, personal way. We want them to know there are girls in AHG Troop 0323 and boys in Trail Life Troop 1012 who care about them, love them, and are praying for them. It was such a meaningful night, and we’re grateful we got to be part of it.
