The Siouxland Community Foundation strives to enhance the quality of life in greater Siouxland by seeking charitable gifts to build permanent endowments as charitable capital for the community to help shape the well-being of Siouxland. WHAT IS THE SIOUXLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION
A community foundation is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization created by and for the people of a specific geographic are

a that serves as a vehicle to connect people who care with causes that matter. To carry out the objectives of donors, contributions from individuals, families, corporations, organizations, private foundations, and governmental entities are carefully invested for maximum return and growth with the income from endowed funds used to make grants in support of programs and organizations that enhance the quality of life in the greater Siouxland tri-state area. Donors can make a gift to an existing fund or establish a new fund at the community foundation by contributing a variety of assets. Endowed gifts to the community foundation are gifts that continue to give forever because only the earnings are used to benefit the Siouxland area through annual grants. Grants support present and emerging needs in the area of arts and culture, community betterment, education, environment, health, and human services. Community foundations are the fastest growing sector of philanthropy in the United States. Candid reports that as of 2020, there were over 1,184 community foundations across the United States. Community foundations are a popular choice for donors because of the services they provide in finding matches between donor interests and community needs. Key Value Statements

Congratulations to Sophie Feddersen, recipient of the 2026 Larry Countryman Memorial Scholarship! 🎓

Established in 2022 by Diane Countryman in memory of her husband, the Larry Countryman Memorial Scholarship supports graduating seniors from Woodbury Central High School as they pursue higher education in Iowa.

This scholarship recognizes students for their academic achievement, involvement in extracurricular and community activities, and work history — qualities that reflect the spirit and values Larry Countryman carried throughout his life.

The Wakefield Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Siouxland Community Foundation, has awarded their 2026 scholarships to: Jacob Borg, Cael Johnson, Lane Fischer, and Yamilet Gomes.

Applicants must be a Wakefield School District graduating high school senior and must plan to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited public or private university, college, vocational, technical, or other post-secondary institution.

Congrats to our 2026 Solid and Wattenberg Scholarship recipients, Hannah Krueger and Brenna Johnson!

The Solid and Wattenberg Scholarship was established in 2020. Mary Sharon Wells (Wattenberg) was compelled to begin a fund to honor her late husband, David E. Wattenberg and his mother, Eva (Solid) Wattenberg. The Solid family owned farmland in the Sloan, Iowa area. The scholarship will help graduating from Westwood Community School District to pursue a post-secondary education.

The Cloy & Connie Olhausen Scholarship is to assist graduating high school seniors in their pursuit of a nursing degree at a post-secondary educational institution. Applicants must graduate from one of the following high schools: Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn, Sibley-Ocheyedan, Sheldon, or South O’Brien.

This award is based on such factors as scholastic performance while in high school, good character, participation in extracurricular school activities, work history, financial need, and essay evaluation.
