The Siouxland Youth Golf Association was founded in 2007 as a non-profit organization and is doing business as First Tee Siouxland. Since our inception, First Tee Siouxland has impacted the lives of over 7,500 youth of Northwest Iowa and Northeast Nebraska through our summer certification program, National School Program, and community outreach. No child is ever turned away - scholarships are avai
lable to those unable to afford the cost of the summer program. First Tee Siouxland has agreements with Sun Valley, Floyd Park, and the Green Valley golf courses, located in Sioux City, Iowa. We also extend our reach to Deer Run in Hinton, Iowa and Sunrise Point golf course in Storm Lake, Iowa. We use the golf course as a platform and a metaphor for life. For example, in golf you must be honest in keeping track of your own score. It’s also important to be honest with your parents, your teachers, your coaches, your friends and with yourself. We discuss and display one of our Nine Core Values per week with everyone enrolled over the nine week summer program. First Tee Siouxland is a special organization. We serve approximately 500 youth from ages 4-17 in our summer program, and the kids and parents both love it. Our Coaches/mentors are very compassionate about their positions and that passion is passed on to the youngsters throughout the summer. First Tee Siouxland is in a partnership with the Sioux City Community School District where we have three full-time Outreach Coordinators working directly with the freshman class at their respective Sioux City public high schools. Our Coordinators are in the school to share First Tee Siouxland’s curriculum and to help struggling 9th grade students succeed in the difficult transitional year from middle school to high school. Our Outreach Coordinators also assist with the District’s summer school program.
