The audience at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center voted our new comedy first place on Sunday. "Zoey versus AI Microwave," a 17- minute Hi-Tech kitchen comedy, was produced by the small crew of the Siouxland Filmmakers Club.
Our comedy narrowly beat out another locally-produced film, Dear John, by just one lone vote. The black and white post Korean War bittersweet love story was also filmed in Sioux City.
Historian Russ Frye's story about Almira Fales, a Civil War nurse from Iowa, came in third.
The 6 - annual film fest was held in the middle of a power outage with the event moved to a cafeteria room when the auditorium projector would not work. The movies were shown to a packed room of enthusiastic viewers on a big screen TV, which fortunately still had an emergency power supply.
