Tonight, East High Baseball will recognize the 1996 East High Baseball team and their record setting season.
Members of the 1996 East High Baseball team are Adam Amick, Adam Stevens, Brett Lias, Brit Jervick, Corey Loffswald, Dave Rossman, Dustin Hesse, Jay Ditmann, JD Scholten, Matt VanMeter, Nate Winter, Nick Ellwanger, Rob Towler, and Head Coach Steve Shanks. Team members not in attendance this evening are Brett Benson, Brock Beckmann, Jared Ocker, Mark Obbink, Ryan Newman, and Assistant Coach Ron Amick.
Head Coach Steve Shanks led the East High baseball team to a number one ranking in Iowa Class 4A in 1995 and to back-to-back state championship game appearances in 1996 and 1997. Over Coach Shankโs seven-year tenure at East High, the baseball program was dominant with an average of 31 wins per season.
In the summer of 1996, the East High Black Raiders won 39 games, earning the most wins in the history of the East High baseball program, a record that has stood for 30 years. The team posted a 39-5 record. ๐ โซ๏ธโพ๏ธ
