Downtown is getting a serious green upgrade 🌳

Starting today, 61 new trees are being planted throughout Downtown Sioux City as part of a major canopy expansion project bringing more shade, beauty, and comfort to our streets. This beautiful Ivory Spear Crabapple tree was planted Friday afternoon at 4th & Virginia Streets thanks to our team at Sioux City Parks & Recreation.

This effort is made possible through a partnership between Downtown Partners, Sioux City Parks & Rec, the Kind World Foundation, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources plus support from local partners like F&M Bank and State Steel.

Crews will be working throughout the next couple of weeks, so some sidewalk and street impacts are expected. Thanks in advance for rolling with it while Downtown grows. 🌱

Kick off summer with First Fridays in downtown Sioux City on June 5!

Enjoy live music, local shopping, food and drink specials, and interactive fun throughout the district. This monthly event showcases the people, places, and passions that make Downtown Sioux City one-of-a-kind.

Here's What's Happening on Friday, June 5th:

Sioux City Food Truck Fridays is kicking off their 2026 season featuring a rotating lineup of lunch options from 11:00am – 1:30pm at a new location at 4th & Jones Street.

Buffalo Alice Pizza is serving up patio specials with $2 domestic beers starting at 11:00am at 1022 4th Street.

Sioux City Art Center’s Imagination Station is opening its drop-in creative studio for kids and adults from 12:30pm – 3:30pm (last entry at 3:00pm) with hands-on art making, materials provided, and a relaxed creative space for all ages. Mention Downtown Partners for $1 off admission at 225 Nebraska Street.

Jackson Street Brewing East is pouring an extended Happy Hour with drink specials from 3:00pm – 7:00pm at 901 5th Street.

Savannah Berlyn Photo & Design (inside Gallery 103) is offering 10% off artwork in-studio from 4:00pm – 7:00pm at 600 4th Street Suite 103.

Downtown Live kicks off at a NEW LOCATION at 4th & Virginia Streets with live music from Dan Rodriguez, vendors curated by Winnie’s, drinks provided by Historic 4th Street Association and Marto Brewing Co.. Admission is only $5 at the gate and remember to bring your lawn chair!

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City is hosting a free live show featuring Trust at 8:00pm in the Anthem at 111 3rd Street.

The Warp Zone Bar & Arcade is hosting Pop Divas Karaoke with Gage starting at 9:00pm! Performers get a free Jello shot at 611 5th Street.

This just in! 🎶🔥Downtown Live will return Friday, June 5, kicking off another summer of live music back at its original home - 4th & Virginia Streets.

National and local acts will take the stage on the first Friday of the month from June through September starting at 7:00pm.

Plus, you can grab a cold drink from the Historic Fourth Street Association and Marto Brewing Co. and explore a variety of local vendors curated by Winnie’s, all for just $5 at the gate.

Ragen and Tracie were at the International Downtown Association Place Matters Conference, connecting with other downtowns, learning new placemaking strategies, and bringing fresh inspiration back to Sioux City.

And yes, between sessions, we were out supporting local… all ideas for the next week will be powered by cheese and chocolate 😉
