Thank you Hartford Public Library for donating STEM kits for Horizons afterschool tutoring! Our Moylan students were so excited to read “SO MUCH SLIME” and spend the afternoon making slime with their Westminster buddies 💛

A Saturday well spent! 🎾📚

Over 40 Horizons students came to Westminster this past weekend for a day of tennis, slime-making, scavenger hunts, and SO much fun! It was the perfect opportunity to learn, play, and reconnect after our six-week summer session! 🤩💛

Already looking forward to our next Saturday Academy in October! 🎃🍁

Allow us to reintroduce ourselves… with a new chapter at Horizons at Westminster! 📚✨

This year, we are thrilled to launch a new afterschool program at Moylan School to provide sustained academic enrichment to our Horizons elementary school students throughout the school year. The best part? The tutoring will be provided by our Horizons high schoolers and Westminster student volunteers!

This new opportunity will support our efforts to foster a love of learning in our younger students, to provide leadership opportunities for our older students, to create check in opportunities with our High School Coordinator, and to continue building strong connections across our Horizons at Westminster community. We are so excited for this new initiative and continue to be grateful for our partnership with Moylan School who made it all possible! 💛💫

As we kick off another school year filled with Saturday Academies, afterschool tutoring, mentoring, holiday parties, and more, we reflect on an incredible summer at Horizons! ☀️📚

Horizons is such a joyful and successful program in large part due to the Westminster student counselors and volunteers who spend their summer cheering on our students, supporting academics, building friendships, and making every day a little bit more fun 🤩😎

This program would not be possible without you all and we look forward to an incredible school year! Summer 2026 may be in the camera roll, but Horizons is just getting started 🖤💛

In addition to our summer program, holiday parties, volunteers visits, guest readers, and proudly hosting Moylan field day, we are excited to share that this year, Horizons at Westminster will be providing additional tutoring afterschool twice a week throughout the school year at Moylan 📚💛 we are thrilled that our partnership is continuing to grow every year — we can’t wait to get started!

This summer, our middle school students were mentored by UConn School of Medicine faculty who volunteered twice a week to teach our students about the different available careers across medicine and to provide hands-on learning experiences.

Thank you Dr. Kwame Amankwah for organizing this STEM career path initiative and for the many colleagues at UConn Health who generously gave their time, expertise, and enthusiasm to engage our students!
