Meet the incredible Lead Teachers of Horizons at Westminster! 💛

In just a few weeks, we will kick off another summer with a team of some of the most passionate and dedicated educators in Hartford! Our lead teachers make Horizons such a special place for 150 students to learn and grow by bringing their creativity, expertise, and enthusiasm every day 🤩

We are proud to celebrate 100% teacher retention this summer ☀️ their commitment speaks volumes about the strength of this community and their impact year and year!

Congratulations to this year’s recipient of the Horizons at Westminster Award for Outstanding Service — Hannah Maltby! We are so grateful for Hannah’s years of dedication to Horizons, including joining us this summer as an Assistant Teacher ☀️📚

Horizons would not be possible without the support of the Westminster community and the involvement of our many student volunteers. We are thankful for all the ways the Class of 2026 has shown up and supported Horizons throughout the year and we are grateful your leadership over the past four years! 💛🖤

We are so proud of our first teacher ever at Horizons at Westminster 💛 tonight we celebrated Heather Kahn on her well deserved nomination for Hartford Public School 2026 Teacher of the Year! She has been an incredible team member and advocate of our Horizons/Moylan partnership since 2018 and we can’t wait to have her back working her magic in the classroom again this summer! ☀️📚

We are incredibly grateful to Greater Hartford Gives Foundation for their generous $38,000 grant in support of our 2026 Summer Program at Horizons at Westminster! ☀️📚🚌

This support allows our students to experience a summer filled with academic enrichment, swimming, arts, athletics, mentorship, field trips, and joyful learning opportunities where they can build confidence and uncover new talents 🎨🎾🧬

Thank you to the team at Greater Hartford Gives Foundation for your continuous support of our students and for your investment in summer learning. We believe every child in Hartford should have access to joyful, high-impact learning opportunities and are proud to provide a transformational, tuition-free, summer program that helps eliminate critical barriers to success.

The rain can’t stop a Horizons Saturday! 🤩🌟

Today we had 45 students join us for a fun morning filled with activities. From constructing marble runs with Mrs. Bailey’s Advanced Engineering students, playing tennis with our friends at RFL, creating Mother’s Day crafts and enjoying kickball on the indoor turf with our Westminster student volunteers, it was a day filled with joy and friendship - perfect for our final Saturday Academy of the year! 💛🎾

The countdown is officially on for SUMMER! ☀️📚

In celebration of Earth Day, we hosted an eco-themed Saturday Academy! 💚 Our Westminster student volunteers worked alongside our students to decorate pots and pick plants to grow, collect cans and bottles to recycle, repurpose bottle caps into an art project, and complete a nature scavenger hunt. It was an engaging morning of conservation and creation 🌱🌳♻️
We also had time for some outdoor fun playing wiffle ball and kickball with our Westminster student volunteers ⚾️
Happy Earth Day 🌎 and happy spring! We are looking forward to our final Saturday Academy in May before our summer session begins in June! ☀️📚

What a night! 💫

This past Saturday, we celebrated the incredible impact of Todd & Mary Eckerson and the future of Horizons at Westminster — and like all moments we share with our Horizons students, the room was filled with JOY 🤩

We had a sold out room hosted by the incredible Soledad O’Brien and Kimberley A. Martin, heard directly from students who spoke passionately about the power of Horizons, Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam emphasized the the impact of programs like Horizons on Hartford students, and raised critical funds to create meaningful experiences and expand our impact. We couldn’t have had such a successful event without the support of our board members, sponsors and community partners, Horizons teachers, current and former Westminster staff and faculty, current and former Westminster parents and of course our Horizons and Westminster students 💛

Shoutout to everyone who brought this event to life, including our event committee, and of course the amazing team at the — hosting our event here was the perfect place to showcase the joy of learning, exploration, and discovery at Horizons 🧪🔬🧬

There are big things in store for Horizons at Westminster — stay tuned, we are just getting started ✨

We are beyond thrilled and proud to welcome TWO Horizons students to Westminster’s Class of 2030! 💛🖤

Bryce and Michael have both been part of Horizons since they were in 1st grade and their dream has always been to attend Westminster! We are confident they will have an incredible impact on the Westminster community — and we are so excited to have them here all year round 🤩
