We want to commend our dedicated members working in specialized assignments to keep our streets safe. A special shoutout to the SVPD PROS Officer, made possible through a joint funding effort by the Ventura County Probation Agency and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), a team of skilled detectives focused on narcotics related investigations and other crimes against society.

On May 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM, the Ventura County Probation Department, alongside the Simi Valley Police Department’s PROS Officer, contacted Jason Klausmeyer for a probation appointment. Klausmeyer was dropped off by his girlfriend, April Baird, in his vehicle.

During a search of Klausmeyer’s vehicle, two kilograms of Ketamine and over $8,000 in U.S. currency were discovered. The SVPD Special Investigations Unit responded and obtained search warrants for Klausmeyer’s residence and storage units in San Clemente, CA.

Following the warrant service, an impressive 115+ pounds of controlled substances were seized, including:
- 85,000 counterfeit Adderall pills (Methamphetamine)
- 25,000 M**A pills
- 30 pounds of Ketamine
- 1 pound of Fentanyl
- 7 pounds of Co***ne
- 10 pounds of Psilocybin

The street value of these seized drugs is approximately $2.1 million. Both Klausmeyer and Baird were arrested and booked on drug trafficking charges.

Thank you to all our officers for your hard work and commitment to community safety!

SVPOA SRO Position Statement - June 1, 2026: The Simi Valley Police Officers’ Association believes that every child deserves to learn in a safe, stable environment protected by properly trained, consistently present School Resource Officers.

Over the last decade, SVUSD has grown into a diverse district of more than 17,000 students and staff members spread across 28 campuses, yet the SRO program has never been staffed or supported at a level that matches the size and complexity of our schools. For years, school staff and SVPD personnel have raised concerns about the lack of a stable, fully staffed SRO program.

We fully support concrete, data-driven recommendations to improve school safety, early intervention, and relationships with students and families. We strongly believe that the current authorizations for just two SRO positions leaves SVUSD students, educators, and families are left without a daily, dedicated law enforcement presence on their campuses during school hours.

The current system creates a public safety gap as all school-related calls for service are handled by patrol officers pulled from the field on a standard priority basis. These officers work hard and respond professionally, but they are not embedded on campus, do not have the same specialized SRO training, and cannot provide the proactive, relationship based, school‑specific safety services that students and staff deserve. This reactive model creates critical holes in threat assessment, early intervention, and campus‑specific problem solving, and it no longer reflects the expectations of our community or the realities of modern school safety.

The SVPOA has not set any specific number of SROs or for any particular funding mechanism; those important decisions appropriately rest with City and Simi Valley Police administration, SVUSD leadership, and other elected bodies.

However it is clear to all, and it is the the Association’s position, that the current level of SRO coverage is inadequate. The current model o two SROs were never enough for this district and relying on a single SRO is unacceptable. Further pulling beat officers into random school calls is not a sustainable or responsible school safety strategy.

Students, parents, educators, and our broader community deserve a modern, well‑designed SRO program that is staffed, trained, and funded as a core public safety function, not as an afterthought.

The SVPOA therefore urges City and District leaders to acknowledge the existing gaps, commit to strengthening the SRO program, and work collaboratively and transparently to determine and fund the appropriate level of dedicated SRO staffing for SVUSD.

By doing so, Simi Valley can move from a reactive patchwork of coverage to a stable, proactive, school‑based safety partnership that protects our children, supports educators, and reflects our community’s shared commitment to safe, welcoming campuses.

SVPOA SRO Facts > > > The SVPOA fully supports closing the SRO gap by strengthening the SRO program through collaborative and transparent work that determines and funds the appropriate level of dedicated SRO staffing for SVUSD.

Today, Simi Valley schools have more than 17,000 students and staff members on 28 campuses, but today they have no dedicated School Resource Officers on site to protect them during the school day.

Pulling patrol officers off the street to respond for school calls is not a sustainable safety plan. Students, staff, and families deserve trained SROs who know their campuses, kids, and community.

Other communities of like size and population have found ways to prioritize school safety and SRO programs. The SVPOA believes that city, county, and SVUSD leadership can find a way to meet the need, exceed the expectations, and fully support a stable, proactive, school‑based safety partnership that protects our children.

Members of the Simi Valley Police Officers’ Association and SVPD Leadership were honored to participate in the police memorial event hosted by the Peace Officers Association of Ventura County (POAVC) on Thursday, May 21st, at the Ventura County Government Center.

This meaningful occasion brought together law enforcement agencies, families, and community members to remember Ventura County’s fallen officers. The ceremony included a presentation of colors, a roll call of heroes, a helicopter flyover, and a moving performance by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Pipe and Drum Corps.

May we never forget those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the protection of Ventura County.

As we conclude National Police Week, the Simi Valley Police Officers’ Association pays tribute to Officer Michael Clark, who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting our community.

On August 4, 1995, Officer Clark was tragically shot and killed during a welfare check on a suicidal individual. He had served just four months with the Simi Valley Police Department, bringing over five years of experience from the LAPD and having distinguished service in the United States Marine Corps.

The assailant was apprehended, convicted of second-degree murder, and sentenced to life in prison, with parole denied in 2021. Officer Clark was only 28 years old and is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and his son, Bayley, who was just five months old at the time.

His sacrifice reminds us of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day. To honor his memory, the Simi Valley Police Department holds an annual ceremony led by the Honor Guard, at the station’s flagstaff on the anniversary of Officer Clark’s death.

Several lasting tributes carry his name:
- In 2008, the street leading to the police station was dedicated as Officer Michael Clark Memorial Parkway.
- In August 2016, the Highway 118 First Street overpass was renamed the Simi Valley Police Officer Michael Clark Memorial Overcrossing.
