Slice Of Lime Foundation

Slice Of Lime Foundation http://www.sliceoflime.org In January, 2010 Dave Sobel was diagnosed with angio-immunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a very aggressive and rare form of lymphoma.

He was 53 years old. He was prescribed chemotherapy which he responded well to. During his treatment, his daughter Lauren began looking into planning a golf tournament to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as a way to honor Dave and to help those affected by the diseases highlighted by the LLS. Dave and Lauren, with input from the rest of their family, began researching and planning the golf

tournament and eventually expanded their goal to make it an annual event. In order to do so, they decided that a nonprofit foundation needed to be formed. Since lime green is the cancer ribbon color for lymphoma and the ‘slice of lime’ image came from Dave’s goal of retiring in his own “Margaritaville” – relaxing on a beach somewhere tropical with a lime wedge in his drink – Slice of Lime Foundation was so named. It was created to front various charitable activities to raise money to forward the already-established non-profits whose goals are in line with Slice of Lime’s. In June, 2010 Dave was pronounced to be in remission and underwent a stem cell transplant to keep him that way in August. Six weeks after his release from the stem cell transplant doctors confirmed the lymphoma was back. He spent the fall fighting, spending more time in the hospital than out. His battle with lymphoma ended December 26, 2010. He was 54 years old. It is our mission through Slice of Lime Foundation to help others through already-established charities such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and assist our communities with funding for teens at risk. Dave touched the lives of many people and it is our hope that we can further his goals through this foundation.

Walker lake actually has two trails to it. One that goes on the south side the other on the north side of the lake. The south t...

Five years ago today, the inspiration for Slice of Lime lost his battle with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma. We miss you Dave. In these five years we have been able to make a difference for people fighting blood cancer and we are in the midst of a huge campaign to make it easier for those fighting right here in Simi Valley. Donations are tax deductible. Together we can make this happen.
