Last week we said yes to this sweet older rabbit. We had received a call from a teenager who wanted better for a bunny he and his siblings had grown up with. A young male isn’t our usual caller so we listened and asked questions.

We learned that over time the other rabbits had passed away leaving this one alone and now a family member threatened to dumped him in the forest so they could be done with rabbits.

We were impressed that the young caller recognized the rabbit may not be safe and took the initiative to make sure the last bunny from his childhood had a better life in the end. Welcome home BunBun🐇

THANK YOU to the generous people who recently purchased items for the animals. As sometimes happens we didn’t get notice of who you were but we greatly appreciate all the thoughtful packages from medical supplies, shade sails, scratching pads and more. The animals approve and are enjoying all the gifts. Purchasing items off our wishlist is a great way to know exactly how your donations helped💚

Every year, on Father’s Day, I share this post to help others understand this special man behind the scenes that many don’t ever see. Each day he fights the confusion in his mind and the pain from his body to care for the animals at Green Acres Farm Sanctuary that he calls family. So on the day we celebrate fathers I want to honor a man who may not be a father in the traditional terms but who has given everything he is and everything he has to help those who have nothing and no one. Because he knows what it feels like to be abused and homeless that’s why he has helped provided shelter to and care for every animal that have come through Green Acres Farm Sanctuary. Like so many of the animals he too has survived a lot including 5 weeks in a coma. He deals each day with a traumatic brain injury, extreme short term memory loss, steel rods in both legs, a steel plate in his arm, epilepsy and now Parkinson’s disease. Despite all he has gone through he is ready every day to help others and although each year things get harder for him to do he still finds the strength to carry on and never gives up. You will never see him post how difficult life is or ask for acknowledgment for himself on here because he doesn’t even know what social media is. He does good because it is the right thing to do not in order to get likes or because someone is watching. So even though he won’t see this post or even remember it if he did, it is still important that you know how amazing John Crow, my husband and Co-Founder of Green Acres Farm Sanctuary, is.

COURTESY POST… This rooster is in threat of being dumped. He is a 16 weeks old Americana currently in the Salem, Oregon area. We have asked for some time to find a home but the reality is roosters get dumped all the time. The difference is we can help this rooster before that happens but we need a home. Because we have already taken in 3 animals this week we are asking for others to assist this rooster. Transportion will be arranged we just want to see him safe.

If your zoning allows for roosters and you can provide a nurturing environment please email us for information at [email protected] As always animals are for loving not eating or breeding. PLEASE SHARE to help him find a home 🐓🏡

🚨Junie needs our help to survive❤️‍🩹

At just weeks old Junie needs surgery. OSU Veterinary Hospital has diagnosed Junie with atresia ani with a rectovaginal fistula, a congenital defect affecting her digestive tract. Fortunately, her veterinarians believe that her condition can be corrected but only through surgery which will give her the opportunity to live a healthy and comfortable life.

Junie and her brother have a the opportunity to grow up together and live as family members in a loving home but Junie must have surgery to survive. Let’s give her that chance. Surgery is scheduled for the 25th and estimated cost is $685-$825. Our Safe At Home program is committed to covering the cost of Junie’s life saving medical but we need your help to ensure the funds are available.

Please donate today because Junie’s only chance at a future depends on receiving this corrective surgery. Together we can make a difference.

15 YEARS OF SAVING LIVES… Festus Jackson, our first donkey, arrived before we were officially a nonprofit. Although we don’t know his full background there was definitely evidence that abuse was part of it. Festus came to Green Acres after another facility decided he was not social enough, deemed him unadoptable and faced euthanasia. At Green Acres Farm Sanctuary there are no requirements made of animals. We met them on their terms. For Festus that meant years of patience and acceptance for him to enjoy human company. We have got to watch Festus grow old and we cherish everyday with him even more.

Since Festus’s arrival more than 25 years ago Green Acres has welcomed and loved 3 more donkeys, Gigi, Ozzy and Jasper and Ruby a wonderful hinny.

As we celebrate our 15th Birthday this month we want to honor Festus Jackson, the first donkey to (still) call Green Acres home.

ORDER TODAY… Our 2026 special design, Saving Lives, created by the talented is available now at our online store. This meaningful design helps illustrate the lives you have helped us save since 2011. Inside the heart are names of animals cared for at Green Acres Farm Sanctuary over the last 15 years. Although we could not fit all their names we wanted to represent as many of our residences, fosters and adoptees as possible to emphasize that every animal rescued is a unique individual. We have had the honor to care for the tiniest of chicks and the mightiest of steer. We hope you will recognize the names of animals you have loved along side us.

Please check out our Bonfire store where you can shop all our merchandise in multiple styles, sizes and colors. Wear your support and help us save even more lives. 🐓🐷🐴🫏🐈🐑🐶🐥🐐🪿🦃🐮🦆🐦‍⬛❤️
