Every year, on Father’s Day, I share this post to help others understand this special man behind the scenes that many don’t ever see. Each day he fights the confusion in his mind and the pain from his body to care for the animals at Green Acres Farm Sanctuary that he calls family. So on the day we celebrate fathers I want to honor a man who may not be a father in the traditional terms but who has given everything he is and everything he has to help those who have nothing and no one. Because he knows what it feels like to be abused and homeless that’s why he has helped provided shelter to and care for every animal that have come through Green Acres Farm Sanctuary. Like so many of the animals he too has survived a lot including 5 weeks in a coma. He deals each day with a traumatic brain injury, extreme short term memory loss, steel rods in both legs, a steel plate in his arm, epilepsy and now Parkinson’s disease. Despite all he has gone through he is ready every day to help others and although each year things get harder for him to do he still finds the strength to carry on and never gives up. You will never see him post how difficult life is or ask for acknowledgment for himself on here because he doesn’t even know what social media is. He does good because it is the right thing to do not in order to get likes or because someone is watching. So even though he won’t see this post or even remember it if he did, it is still important that you know how amazing John Crow, my husband and Co-Founder of Green Acres Farm Sanctuary, is.
