FDRD Ranger Patrollers serve as friendly ambassadors for the Dillon Ranger District, connecting with visitors and sharing tips on Leave No Trace, wildlife protection, fire restrictions, and responsible recreation.

Through thousands of visitor interactions, our volunteers help build a community that cares for and respects our public lands.

With the expansion of Winter Ranger Patrol, this outreach now extends beyond the summer season and into winter recreation.

A big thank-you to our volunteer Ranger Patrollers!

A big thank you to Maddie K, our Seasonal Program Coordinator, who wrapped up her season with FDRD last week!

We couldn’t have accomplished all the trail projects we did this season without her hard work, dedication, and expertise. We’re grateful for everything she brought to the team and the impact she made on our public lands and community.

Thanks for an awesome season, Maddie!

Colorado’s big game r***e season has kicked off this week. Swipe for the season dates. A few friendly reminders for trail users during the season:

🎃 Wear blaze orange or bright colors if you’re hiking, biking, or recreating in hunting units.
🐶 Keep your pets leashed and visible. Put them in blaze orange or bright colors as well!
🌲 Respect hunters - they’re recreating too!

The CPW Big Game Brochure is linked in our bio.

Happy hunting season!

Today we are highlighting another one of our projects from earlier this summer with one of the most scenic worksites!

This bridge was one of our quicker builds, only taking one 4 hour long volunteer project. As you can see from the before picture there was not an official stream crossing, which was widening the creek. The new bridge is preventing further damage to the stream bed & helping trail users keep their toes dry!

58 Trailheads across the Dillon Ranger District and Summit County were adopted this year by volunteers & 330 bags of trash were collected.

Thank you to our Adopt-a-Trailhead volunteers for all your hard work this spring, summer, & fall!

This is a great reminder to pack it out & leave no trace! Thanks for keeping public lands clean.
