We are heading back to Africa in just a few short weeks. Each year, we have a team of African friends who we join with while we are camping out in the rural areas of Tanzania doing water projects. We cook every meal together over a small gas stove and create both African and American food. But this year, prices of everything have risen and even though we are simple in what we cook, this year, we are finding it hard to fund everything. Would you join with us for Waffles & Ice Cream, May 20-23? 100% of the profit from the waffles & ice cream will go to feed our team while there.

More books came this week and we are so grateful!! I added a few more books to the list along with a few book stands to hold the books upright, facing the children when they enter the library. Once these are purchased, I won't be adding more since we will have reached our weight limit for what we can carry over to Africa. We can't wait to see them read these books! Someone asked me if it was ok that these books were in English. Yes, the children at this school are learning English so these books will help them learn to read English as well as help them by hearing the flow of English words in a fun, inspiring way. The books were thoughtfully chosen in keeping with the culture and and to provide uplifting stories of east African people. Here is the link for the final books and book stands on the list. THANK YOU AGAIN, for bringing this sweet joy to a group of sweet kids!!

Each photo shows gifts for the Tanzanian school that we have received from our Amazon wishlist in the last few days. None of them had a note with who they are from except for the book, “My Rows and Piles of Coins” which had a card that said it was from “Russell.” Thank you to everyone! We can’t wait for you to see the photos and videos of the children when they receive them! There are still some left on our wishlist if you want to order. This is a map of HOPE. Our final project from last year, project number 10 in Enguserosidani was the most difficult one of 2025. After multiple surveys, drilling 3 boreholes in 3 locations, and 3 dry boreholes, about two weeks ago, some government leaders came to talk with our water engineer. They told how they had been about to get to water outside of the village but drilling costs had used up all their budget so they had been unable to finish the project. They knew we had also been drilling and trying to get to water. They offered their successful borehole to us if we would help them pipe the water to some locations in the village.

Our team has prayed and discussed options for days. We normally do not work with the government, however, this time we think it is a great option. Total cost for this will be around $30,000. We have enough from a generous donor family and a couple of others to complete the work. This project is going to be even better than we expected and we believe that our willingness to work with the government is going to help the church with favor in the village.

In the end, the borehole, which supplies 10,000 liters of water per hour will supply a large 50,000 liter concrete water tank, a tap at the local school, a tap at the clinic, a tap at the church, two taps on the main road in the village and at the end, the locals are going to build watering troughs for their cattle, goats and sheep outside of town. It is truly amazing!!!

This project has tested our resilience in every way. We thank God for solutions that are even better than we could ask or imagine! This is picture of a very “rough map” so you can have an idea of what we are about to do. We will keep you updated. Thanks for hanging with us! —Lisa
