It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our good friend and longtime club member Gordon Williams, K2GLW, became a Silent Key last night.

Gordon passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, and we’re told he was in good spirits right to the end—true to the warm, upbeat personality we all knew so well on the air and at every club meeting, field day, and breakfast.

Whether he was chasing that elusive DX on 10 meters (just two countries shy of DXCC!), working the NYC Marathon, sharing stories about the Red Cross, or his many decades in Chicago on AM broadcast radio, Gordon’s presence made our club better and brighter. His friendly signal and contagious enthusiasm will be deeply missed.

We extend our deepest condolences to Gordon’s family. Details about services or any club plans to honor his memory will be shared as soon as they become available.

Please keep Gordon's family in your thoughts and prayers. Tonight, when you turn on the rig, maybe give a listen on his favorite frequencies… I suspect he’s already working a pileup from the best shack in the sky.
