**Happy National Wildland Firefighter Day and a safe Independence Day from Kitsap County Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 2819!** 🇺🇸🔥

Today, July 2nd, we proudly recognize **National Wildland Firefighter Day** and honor the brave men and women who battle wildfires across our state and nation. These wildland firefighters—along with our own members who step up during fire season—face extreme conditions, long deployments, and tremendous risk to protect lives, homes, communities, and our precious natural resources.0

Your dedication, courage, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed. Whether you're on the line in the backcountry or supporting operations from base camp, dispatch, or logistics, thank you for everything you do. We also remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice—your service and memory inspire us every single day.

As we head into the **4th of July** weekend, we want to remind everyone: **Fireworks and dry conditions are a dangerous mix**. One stray spark can start a wildfire that puts lives, property, and our firefighters at risk. Please celebrate safely this Independence Day:

- Attend a professional public fireworks display instead of using consumer fireworks.
- If you do use fireworks, follow all local laws, have water and a hose ready, and fully extinguish every ember.
- Never leave fires unattended, and make sure your campfire is dead out (drowned, stirred, and cold).
- Report any smoke or fire immediately.

Our crews are ready and standing by to protect Kitsap County, but we all play a role in prevention. Let's keep our communities safe so our firefighters can enjoy the holiday with their families too.

From all of us at **Local 2819**, thank you for your continued support of the fire service. Stay safe, stay vigilant, and have a happy 4th of July!

Gap. Set. Force.

It’s a common way to teach forcible entry — but it’s not the only way.

Every department, every crew, every door has its own nuances.

Do you teach Gap–Set–Force?

Or do you use a different approach?

Presidents Day trivia 🇺🇸🔥

Before becoming the first President of the United States, George Washington served his community as a volunteer firefighter with the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Company.

Fire protection in the early days of our country wasn’t a profession — it was a civic responsibility.

Service has always come first.
