সীমানার ওপারে মানবতা: ১১২তম বিশ্ব অভিবাসী ও শরণার্থী দিবস

২৭ সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৬, রবিবার বিশ্বজুড়ে পালিত হয়েছে ১১২তম বিশ্ব অভিবাসী ও শরণার্থী দিবস। এবারের প্রতিপাদ্য—“Even just one of these children”—অর্থাৎ “এই শিশুদের মধ্যে একজনও”। পোপ লিও চতুর্দশের বার্তায় অভিবাসন ও বাস্তুচ্যুতির সঙ্গে জড়িত শিশুদের বিশেষ দুর্বলতা, মর্যাদা, অধিকার ও সুরক্ষার প্রতি বিশ্ববাসীর দৃষ্টি আকর্ষণ করা হয়েছে।

যুদ্ধ, দারিদ্র্য, সহিংসতা, পরিবেশগত বিপর্যয় ও নানা সংকটের কারণে প্রতিবছর বহু শিশু ও কিশোর-কিশোরী নিজেদের ঘর ও পরিচিত পরিবেশ ছেড়ে যেতে বাধ্য হয়। কেউ পরিবার থেকে বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়, কেউ দীর্ঘ যাত্রাপথে নানা ঝুঁকির মুখোমুখি হয়। ভ্যাটিকানের বার্তায় স্মরণ করিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে—এদের প্রত্যেকেই কেবল একটি সংখ্যা নয়; প্রত্যেকের রয়েছে নিজস্ব জীবন, স্বপ্ন ও মর্যাদা।

দিবসটির মূল আহ্বান হলো, অভিবাসী ও শরণার্থীদের কেবল সংকটের পরিসংখ্যান হিসেবে নয়, অধিকার, মর্যাদা, আশা ও সম্ভাবনাসম্পন্ন মানুষ হিসেবে দেখা। বিশেষ করে শিশুদের জন্য নিরাপদ আশ্রয়, শিক্ষা, পরিবার পুনর্মিলন এবং শারীরিক, মানসিক ও আধ্যাত্মিক বিকাশের সুযোগ নিশ্চিত করার ওপর গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে।

আমাদের আহ্বান

আসুন, অভিবাসী ও শরণার্থীদের প্রতি ভয় বা বৈষম্য নয়—মানবিকতা, সহমর্মিতা ও সম্মানের হাত বাড়িয়ে দিই।

বিশেষ করে কোনো একটি শিশুও যেন অবহেলা, সহিংসতা, শোষণ বা একাকীত্বের শিকার না হয়—তার নিরাপত্তা ও মর্যাদা রক্ষায় আমরা নিজ নিজ অবস্থান থেকে এগিয়ে আসি।

এমন একটি সমাজ গড়ে তুলি, যেখানে ভাষা, দেশ, জাতি বা ধর্মের পার্থক্য কোনো মানুষকে একা বা অবহেলিত করে না।

মানবতার স্বার্থে—আসুন, আমরা স্বাগত জানাই, পাশে দাঁড়াই এবং একসঙ্গে এগিয়ে চলি।

Important Information for BCA Pilgrimage 2026

Dear Pilgrimage Participants,

Please review the following important information regarding our upcoming pilgrimage to St. Clement’s Island.

📅 Pilgrimage Details

Date: Sunday, September 13, 2026
Registration Fee: $10 per person
Theme: “Together We Bring Light to a World in Need”

🕗 Journey Schedule

8:00 AM – Departure
We will begin our journey at 8:00 AM and expect to arrive in the area around 10:00 AM.

10:00 AM – Optional Mass
Those who wish to attend Mass may join us at:

St. Joseph Catholic Church
29119 Point Lookout Road
Morganza, MD 20660

Mass begins at 10:00 AM.

📍 Main Meeting Point

Our main meeting point is:

St. Clement’s Island Museum
38370 Point Breeze Road
Coltons Point, MD 20626

After Mass, participants should proceed to the museum and gather at the main meeting point.

11:00 AM – Museum Visit & Water Taxi Ride
We plan to visit the museum and take the water taxi to St. Clement’s Island at approximately 11:00 AM.

11:30 AM – Spiritual Journey on the Island
We will spend time on the island for prayer, reflection, and our spiritual pilgrimage.

1:00 PM – Return from the Island

1:30 PM – Lunch & Fellowship

2:00 PM – Departure for Home

🚤 Important Water Taxi Information

PLEASE NOTE: Always call ahead at 301-769-2222 to confirm water taxi operations and weather conditions.

High winds, rough water, rain, storms, or other unforeseen circumstances may prevent the water taxi from operating.

Water Taxi Rate: $7.00 per person
The fee applies to children of all ages.
The water taxi fee includes museum admission.
Dogs and other animals are not permitted on the water taxi, except official working guide dogs, which ride free.
Visitors should expect to walk approximately ¾ of a mile from the pier to the lighthouse.

Parking at the St. Clement’s Island Museum is free and is available in the parking lot behind the museum property, near the annex building.
