January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month and the Human Trafficking division has several scheduled events planned, with a mix of public and private engagements focused primarily on awareness. The month will kick off with a training for staff at the Prince George’s County Office of Community Relations on January 6th. The following day, January 7th from 10 am to 2 pm, we will partner with Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) at the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy (GOCPP) for a closed event strategically coordinated for awareness in the transportation industry. On January 13th at 12 noon, we will launch a virtual series with MCASA (Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault). A public event with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is slated for January 24th from 10 am to 3 pm at the Bowie Senior Center, followed by a symposium at the on January 30th from 9 am to 1 pm. Throughout the month, human trafficking awareness training is scheduled with a number of private businesses and organizations, ensuring tools to recognize and combat human trafficking are shared with people throughout the County.
