Restoration Lindale, Inc. is so honored to announce our 2026 Lindale Independence Day Celebration Parade Grand Marshal, Mr. Marlin Gilmer. For the past 55 years, Mr. Gilmer has dedicated his life to serving the Lindale community. After graduating from Jacksonville State University, he moved to the Lindale area in 1971 and began teaching history and religion at Pepperell High School. Over the next 30 years, he positively impacted the lives of countless students through his commitment to education, leadership, and service.
In 1980, Mr. Gilmer became Assistant Principal of Pepperell High School, where he continued to serve as an exemplary leader for students, faculty, and the community. As a Lindale Legend, his dedication and influence helped shape generations of Pepperell students and established a legacy that continues to be felt today.
Even after retiring from Pepperell High School in 2001, Mr. Gilmer remained actively involved, working part-time at home sporting events and continuing to support the school and community he loves. His lifelong commitment, outstanding leadership, and unwavering service have left an enduring mark on the Pepperell and Lindale community.
Adding to this special year, Marlin and his wife, Elaine, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. Mr. & Mrs. Gilmer, have one daughter, Marla, that graduated from Pepperell High in 1997.
