Part of the education program with the New Earth Project is a field trip to our Garden, where students see the full cycle of what happens to their leftover cafeteria food.

Students from Harrison Schmitt Elementary School observed the grinding of leftover food, its mixing with shredded wood and biochar, and its placement in the bioreactor. They gave the red-wiggler worms they have been caring for all year a new home in the bioreactor. Saying goodbye to worm friends can be emotional, so we played bioreactor bingo as a light moment.

It's International Compost Awareness Week!
This year's theme is "Compost! Feed the soil that feeds us."

All week long, we are celebrating how composting helps feed the soil that feeds us. We'll be sharing videos and photos of what we do, both down at the New Earth Project garden and out in our community.

By taking care of the Earth, the Earth takes care of us.
